Hello all, I would just like to post some of my experiences doing ground stf and perhaps provide some insight and possible help to those who are struggling.

By all means post back your thoughts and ideas, that's what we're here for , right?

To start off, I'd just like to share my philosophy on officer types in team missions. While I'm sure we all agree that it's good to have a good mix of officer types, I just wanted to share my thoughts on possible roles:
Tactical- they pretty much shoot the enemy (now when I say that, I'm not being literal. EVERYONE should shoot the ememy, I just say that because tacts will be most of the time in their face and shooting and throw the grenade, etc. cause that's why they are tactical.)
Science- they inhibit the enemies ability to fight ( hence helping the tacts) and heal people so that everyone doesn't have to use 50 billion regenerators per run.
Engineering- this is mainly what I'll talk about in this post. Engineers mostly will support by making stuff. Shields, turrets, drones, generators, quantum mortars, mines, you name it. And on many an occasion, a well-placed orbital strike will go a long way to cleaning the floor around you and mopping up clusters of drones.

Now for engineers ( and everyone else because you should understand and respect this too).
I find the best kit to have is either the bunker fab. or the fab. specialist. But, to each his own. Whenever there's a turn, set up all of your stuff there ( yes it will hit the target. quantum mortars have a surprising range). This will:
A- prevent the Borg from destroying your stuff and
B- give your team a good cover position
Also do this behind cover shields. So revived teammates can regain a little health and get back on their feet.

Any position where you are in a good defense ( not going to get mowed down), is the best place to put things, use orbital strikes, and just aim, crouch, and snipe.

Also, to everyone here, a new kind if strategy for KA ground ( although) the general principle works fhe same for all) is this. When you get to the room where you reroute shield power, stop and take one minute out of the 15 or so you have and mine/turret the heck out of the room, primarily on the walkways and the center console. Then, when you reroute shield power, quickly head to extend it. The Borg should COMPLETELY IGNORE YOU and go after the turrets and such, allowing you to easily transfer power and deal with them afterwards (you may even be able to get away with doing all 6 and then just leave the room and forget the drones altogether). This same tactic can also be applied to Cure ground, where you set up all around like crazy (the turrets shouldn't disappear) before you reconfigure the transformers so you'll have a lot more back up when all he$& breaks loose.

That's all I have for now, and I will try to add on as I encounter new ways. If you have something to contribute, by all means please do. Have fun everyone

there is only 1 rule

go for enemy neutralization kit!!! fabrication/bunker is useless

tactic: 1) neutalize elite drone 2) plant mines/bomb 3) booom!!! all borgs are dead
and PLEASE dont use mortars and seeker drone esp. on kage or you agroe whole map!

btw: fabrication kit is good only for split beam tactic on ige

this^^^^^^
enemy neutralization for the win! mines and bombs are the poop. plus, elites and heavy tactical drones can't shoot your team = win.

I see your point, and I'll probably have to try that. Like I said previously, everyone has their own kit, I just happen to be partial to the ones I listed.

My only point with the turrets is that they make good decoys, allowing you to complete the objective.

I love this kit.

Seriously, ENG is, on ground, my favorite class by far... and he's prety awsome in space too.
A pity that my eng is retiered because... well... he doesnt have the ship to rule them all and won't get it.

I use 3 Kits depending on the Situation....

Infected
While going for the optional: Enemy Neutralization | If not going for optional: Fabrication Specialist |
Against Rebecca: Equipment Technician

Cure
When not at Transformers: Fabrication Specialist | While at Transformers: Enemy Neutralization |
Against Armek: Equipment Technician (Pulsewave Method) | Fabrication Specialist (Plant Mortars Around) |

KA
Walk Down and in Room: Fabrication Specialist | If on Nodes: Enemy Neutralization |
Against Boss: Fabrication Specialist

This is my personal preference.

I tend to run Support Technician or Breach kit, with points set in for Threat Control (to max), and a nice AoE weapon. More things firing at me, with my ability to keep my own shields up = more things the tacs can get flanking shots on.

That's actually not a bad tactic..... I just wish combat supplies was more useful personally
