we were told when the game was in development that new crew would have to be picked up at star bases... what happened to that? it's just another ship stat now. they need to make it MORE difficult to injure & kill crew, but balance it with making it only possible to bring on more crew at star bases and outposts.
also if they changed the respawn point to the last visited starbase. the combination of these two would make PvP more viable and also i think a better PvE experience. you wouldn't have a single big tank, wiping out a bunch of guys and then recover in 45 seconds back to full health after everyone else is dead. once his crew were killed, he'd be permanently disabled to a degree, and thus easier to take out, even if his ship was back to full strength.
i also wouldn't mind seeing an upper limit to the supply of torpedoes a ship can carry. but make torpedoes more powerful, like in the show. when they wanted something done, and were serious about it, they FIRED TORPEDOES.
so at any rate, a small ship like a miranda class might only carry 50 or 60 torpedoes PER BANK, but a large ship like a galaxy class might carry 300 PER TORPEDO BANK.
to balance this with NPC ships i would say reduce the number of torpedoes they carry by a exponential percentage. a BoP might only carry 8, a cruiser 20, a Vorcha 35, and a negvar might carry 55 or 60. that way if you're in a sustained battle eventually they have to run into the same disadvantage of not having enough torpedoes. but then after defeating them your torpedo balance is reduced, but the next NPC fight you get into they are at full compliment. reducing the number NPCs can carry helps balance that out.
i think this is a reasonable request... every other MMO makes how much ammo you can carry an issue. it's a tactical choice. it could even be opened up for crafting more space-efficient torpedo storage and ship cargo holds and things.
