I think we need Patrol or Protect Mission for Federation Player similar like the Pi Canis Missions for the Klingons. How About Missions where the main Target is, to protect Freighters or Starbases/Mines etc.?
The Klingons have their Raid Missions and the Federation have the possibility for protect or defend their Freighters or Facilities........
This setting could actually be idea for an Open PvP in certain areas. As Klingons go deeper into Federation territory, they have a chance to run into Federation players performing patrols. Klingons that successfully pull off the raid get a higher return then a normal raid while Federation players could get better weapon drops or perhaps rare particle traces for their efforts.
I don't like the idea of forcing Open PvP on anyone, so I would say the normal Klingon raiding missions should exist. But perhaps add raiding in the Psi V. sector block, or creating another block where Federation Players can go to a transport, contact it and gaurd it. This will put them in an instance (since interception in Sector Space seems nonsense in its current state) where they follow a freighter from one point of the map to another. There is always a chance no KDF shows up, which means no reward. On the other hand, KDF that attack a transport have a chance of being in a raid with no federation ships on patrol.
Overall though, the idea of having an objective other than kill or be kill seems to be ideal for this.
Federation contacts have like 30 or so patrol missions they give out, and have since launch.
Simply open your contact window and you'll see them. They're all labeled "Patrol the <insert sector name> Sector."
They are not repeatable in the same way as the Pi-Canis missions are. (I am not sure if they are available as Replay? I don't think so, because there are a lot of them).
They could certainy re-use them and create some form of daily/repeatable mission that randomly selects a few of them. If I remember correctly, every Sector in a Sector Block had its own 3 (!) missions. They were about as complex as the KDF ones or Genesis missions (so, not very. I'd argue that the KDF ones offer even a little more variation, though when repeating them, their slightly stronger depth really becomes noticeable... Same space dock every day?)
Alternatively, it might be neat to have some "counter"-missions to the Pi Canis Sorties. Something where we defend a space dock or a freighter convoy.
And, later, add a OpenPvP variant (with defender and attacker roles) of those missions perhaps pretty please with a cherry on top?
So? Starfleet players already have eleventy-zillion exclusive missions to the KDF's 8.
So by all means, let's see if we can't convince the devs to add more missions for the Starfleet players.
And I have played them all twice or more now and really do not look forward to ever repeating them again. Way too much ground. :p
I also played the KDF missions. The advantage of the Dailies really is that it's something you can do to level up that's repeatable but still "long enough" so that it doesn't become quite as boring as Exploration Daliies (which I did to level my 3rd Fed and was forced to do in large parts for my first Klink, due the lack of PvP activity at lower tiers.)
