Cool read. Has a link to a PDF version of the pitch.

I read the words "utilitarian" and "hanky panky" within a paragraph of each other.

Notably, Gene describes using similar or "parrallel worlds" to explain low-budget means of creating fictional societies or planets. I guess that's how he pitched it - aside from the "utilitarian" "hanky panky."

with all the technobabble that gets thrown about in modern trek i did get a good laugh out of "happily eliminating the need to encumber our stories with tiresome scientific explanation"

But who would have been crucified? With his luck, it would have been Chekhov. And then he would claim he will have been the second Russian to be crucified, after Jesus. Because Jesus would have been Russian according to Chekhov.

I was chatting about this with Tommy61 earlier today and it's a pretty interesting find.

I'm glad we ended up with the Enterprise rather than the Yorktown.
