It should be a Science console, now that I think about it.

All of the other retrofits would have gained an extra console in their specialty (Intrepid - Science, Defiant - Tac, Galaxy - Eng), but didn't and keep the "neutral" number of 2 consoles for their other areas. Logically, then, the Adv Escort should lose it's extra Sci console and keep 4 Tac.

Furthermore why would the Galaxy be rendered pointless? Its a Cruiser, the Prometheus is an Escort.
Saucer seperation of the Galaxy is really not about the pet, but the high maneuvrability boost that dropping the saucer gives.
i heard it'll work in all advanced escorts so in the Cerberus and Phoenix Class too!

Of course, those are just skins. The ship stats are identical.

These are my thoughts on it.

If it's a console then it should either be a tac or universal, I would prefer universal since sacing a tac console would drop my weapon damage by 68x6 I would happily sac a sci for it.

It should only work on Advanced Escorts and sovereign class ships since the Prometheus class was the only one designed for it. (you have to have the ship built for it or if you separate your exposing alot of interior decks) The reason for Sov working is that the sovereign class was supposed to be able to separate like the galaxy class can.

I can understand if they make it work on a lot of ships to give them saucer separation if they have a saucer section like the cruisers do, BUT it should not work on a Defiant class at all or any other ship that doesn't have a significant engineering section. Only with the Prometheus class should it give actual MVAM since it was the ONLY ship designed to slit in 3.

Note the Prometheus design originally called for it splitting into 5 pieces but they couldn't get it to look good so they reduced it to 3 before message in a bottle was done.

I do have a question though. If they are putting this in the c-store then how much are they going to charge for it?

Personally I don't think it should be a console at all since the MVAM is by necessity worked into the very core design of the ship. Like the A-10 Warthog is built around it's main gun. you can't just slap in a console and "Hey we can separate". The ability has to be built into the very overall design like the warp core, the impulse engines, having redundant computer cores and basically 3 of EVERYTHING for it to work not to mention the separation mechanics and extra hull. Putting all that into a console is ridiculous. Not to mention I wouldn't mind buying a refit version of what I already have as long as I don't lose boff slots.

However since the Advanced escort was originally made to do this I can see a console working as your just adding code to get the ship to do what it was already built for.

The reason it is a console is , it would be silly to make a 'refit' ship of a ship that is already in the top tier.

Also if you look at all the refits they lose 1 console slot, in their top area compared to the other tier 5 ships.

So for MVAM you lose a tactical console... if you are being balanced in play this is no big deal as one is likely running a projectile, energy weapon, and cannon console set up... so really you only have 3 weapon types to worry about so losing that 4th spot is not so bad.

As we've been told from day one, in the ship database and so forth, only the Prometheus was actually designed to do that, it was omitted on the production model due to moving parts issues with the original.

Also, consoles aren't just adding "code" to a ship. They don't even seem to be consoles in the sense of the computer terminals on the bridge, as a number of the ones in game are already major ship-wide systems. My own ship has a halon fire suppression system in a console slot. To actually install that realistically, engineers would have to at the least pull out all the ceilings on every deck and room of the ship. Some engineering "consoles" go even farther, realistically requiring the entire outer hull to be replaced, something that would require an extended stint in dry dock. Some of the major refits you can do on the fly by switching ship equipment rival MVAM, which "only" requires cutting the ship open and replacing a deck or two with hull plating.
