I can only agree with the statements in this thread.

However, The community is building up this 'Cult of Dstahl' attitude which is bound to place alot of pressure on a guy whos job IS pressure as executive producer. And when you have that cult perspective in full swing game decisions suddenly start to become things dstahl needs to personally defend as opposed to them being game decisions developed and upheld by the STO team.

Then again, like Harry Truman said (right?).. "The Buck stops here", and it is nice to see a proactive executive producer having forum discussion at 2 am his local time.

I don't really think it's a cult attitude. I think It's more of a balancing out of the negativity.

btw - it is part of my job to take the heat and there have been many thoughtful and honest rants about STO that deserve a response from the team.

I appreciate that for the most part the vitriol is meant out of love and desire to make things better. I figure the best way to combat the "CrypticSux" commentary is with action and honesty. Trying to fight those verbal battles is futile.

At the end of the day we have to listen, respond, and make the best decisions for the game so that we can continue to enjoy something we all obviously love dearly.

So rant away. I can take it. And if I get annoyed, Stormshade bans me until I'm nice again

Oh, well, in that case...

OMG STO is being ruined! Cryptic sux! Rawr rawr! It would be made ten times better with Romualn ridges added to the alien character creator! Stahl sux lawllawl!

P.S. - I'll make you that V'Ger Foundry mission. A bribe for a bribe.

Keep on being you mate. I don't always agree with what you do, but i completely respect how much time and effort you clearly put in to this game - in and out of the office. I'm frankly pretty amazed considering some of the treatment you and the other devs receive here that you're still willing to post and do your best. I often feel like i have a big black mark against my name when it comes to getting replies on stuff i post aboutbecause i can be well...blunt, but still i understand respect how busy you must be and as i've tried to say before in various posts i've made, i think you've done an amazing job since you took the hellm.

Probably sounds like a suck job, but it's just pure respect that's well deserved.

Sometimes its nice to have that "conscience", that keeps us from having to call our "other" help in "disposing of the bodies" , to coin a phrase. Any job at this level is stressful, been there, have the T shirt, and I DONT miss it.

You and the team keep up the good work!

It's a shame that you should ever be Rat'd on personally. If it's worth anything too you, I reckon you'd have at least 75% of the players respect and undivided attention. STO would have died along time ago if it weren't for you. Keep Trucking. An don't think for a second its only because your a Trek fan, its because you actually know what the ell your doin.

Admittedly I have been guilty of the odd emotional outburst full of unreasonable half-informed ill-conceived logic, but mostly because I don't understand what the Dev's/GM's have to go through.

I like to keep a track of the Dev posts and a particularly eye opening post that Dstahl made was about the team size that they have to work with. My outlook shifted considerably as I realised that they weren't an office full of 800 people gathered around the water cooler, but a Spec Ops team of 200 working on an A-list title game that have done so, so much in the last 12 months (ramped up since Dstahl too helm, yay) that I have nothing but respect for the team.

It's put the issues that frustrate me into perspective. As a production controller in a growing company I can respect having to multitask, plan and specialise in order to get targets done on time. Sometimes they run over, but not through lack of effort, but more through excessive pride and attention to detail.

I wish to congratulate Dstahl, Stormshade and the rest of the team. If I was outside your offices now I would buy you all a beer as you have turned a cookie cutter MMO of which I was nearing the edge of leaving after a few months of playing it after beta finished, into a game that I can be proud of participating in and watching it grow from strength to strength.

Glad to see that STO has someone that can take a bit of heat at the helm, as it can be frustrating to only hear the negativity about your work.

I hope that with continuing STO success, the budget will increase and so will the team, allowing STo to grow faster and better.

You do realise that wile STO is in existance, Dstahl, you will never be allowed to retire.
