What is your favorite ship, and why?

Right now I am in an Advanced Heavy Cruiser Retrofit (Excelsior Class), which I am liking a lot. But I want to hear from others what they think about the ships they Captain and why.

My FED ENG and FED TAC Vice Admirals both run in Tier Five Fleet Escorts (Mushashi and Yamato respectively). I like them for their abilities to hit hard and fast and they can turn on a dime, which let's me be able to hit one side of an opponet repeatedly, even if he trying to manuver.

I fly an Advanced Heavy Cruiser Refit as well, the USS Warspite.

I like having the Lt. Commander Tactical slot. The debate of Beam Overload and High Yield Torpedo 3 is silly though because the correct answer is Attack Pattern Omega. With that little baby going I become a real badass.

As an Engineer, I can afford to loose some of the survivability that a Lt. Commander Engineer slot would bring as Rotate Shield Frequency and Miracle Worker make up for that. And Attack Pattern Omega also boosts flight speed (boosting defense), resistance, and turn rate so that makes up the loss of the Engineering station.

I run 1 Dual Beam Bank, 2 Beam Arrays, and a Photon Torp forward and 3 beam arrays and a photon torp aft. All Mk XI courtesy of crafting and mission replay rewards.

My skill setup...
Commander Engineer: Engineering Team 1, Aux to SIF 1, Emergency Power to Shields 3, Eject Warp Plasma 3/Boarding Party 3
Lt Engineer: Emergency Power to Weapons 1, Extend Shields 1
Ensign Engineer: Emergency Power to Aux 1
Lt. Commander Tac: Fire at Will 1, High Yield Torpedo 2, Attack Pattern Omega 1
Lt. Science: Science Team 1, Hazard Emitters 2

How powerful am I? I can tank a Tactical Cube and not even realize that is what I am doing until the cube is down to 25%.

My Fed Eng character flies an Soveriegn class Assault Cruiser. I do pretty well when I can get around to playing that character.

My Gorn Eng flies a Fleet Support Vessel. The battles are longer, but the sucker can at least last in one on several battles with Borg ships (thank you Raven )

That's why my Feb ENG character has finished the Borg-related story missions (except for the last two, Assimilation and The Return) and I haven't even started with my Advanced Escort Tactical captain.

The USS Wyatt Earp is a Sovereign Class. Her lines remind me of the clippers ships that earned their fame racing each other with cargoes from the far east. The Wyatt Earp is outfitted for very high sub-light speed and bursts of tight turning. Only a Captain well schooled in engineering can harness every ounce of power required to maintain that level of performance.

Dont shoot the messanger, but I love my Teir 2 Cruiser at VA.

On the T5 side, I like the Sovereign for its extra tac slot. I'm still working out the kinks in the build for her, but she has the potential to become one very angry Sovvie after cycling through all my buffs.

I am liking the fleet escort. I tried the cloaking defiant on tribble and I might eventually pick it up but it is going to take me some practice and trials to find the best weapon loadout and play tactic for it. It just feels a lot squishier than the other escorts.

I am also much enjoying the Excelsior, mostly for having a LtCmdr tac slot. Previously I used a Sovereign but i just didn't know what to do with the ensign slot, not many ensign tac abilities I like. Of course now I don't know what to do with three ensign Eng slots, but I get plenty of other engie abilities. The transwarp is great as well, makes getting around so much easier. I have had a lot of fun running Escorts as an Engineer too, but not lately since I don't want to be dual spec'd for ship types.

I will return to the Prominence one day though, just wait for me my little Miranda beauty!

For looks, I realy like the Nomad. It is one of the few ships that I love without modification (especially after the tweaks from Capt. Logan). Great lines.

I am thinking of finally shaking the dust off my Excelsior (never got around to using it since I was having fun with the Defiant retrofit), as it seems to be a good mix of attack and defense.

My Engineering officer, Lydia, has used the same Fleet Escort since she hit Vice Admiral about ten months ago. People can say whatever they want about fleet escorts, but with an Engineering Officer and an escort equipped for more Engineering officers you're a really durable escort.

Sonar bounces between all the science ships aside from the Luna line of ships, breaking in the Vulcan ship now, so far been liking it. Also been liking the Nebula, it's a solid ship to use for a turret build, as is an Intrepid refit.

Jim had the NX class and now has Connie. I love the NX for the simple fact it is an escort at tier 1 and can out pace and dance most ships its level

Kestrel is a Cruiser Captain. Constitution was always a solid build for what it was, freaking Excelsior handles like a Honda Civic drifter with a really bad attitude and it bites like a great white if you outfitted it well enough. She's now got an Intrepid and I like it as much as any obsessive voyager fan does (why did cryptic kill the DS9 uniforms! WHY! WHHHHHHHHYYYYYY!) and will next have an Excelsior refit when she hits Admiral.
