We direly need a target pc ships only option.

*shakes head*

That and chronos are a movement debuff... APO should work against them.

Seems the only mines worth using are chronitons, maybe trics.

Perhaps mine launchers should only drop one mine at a time. Increase damage/effect accordingly and adjust drop rate. Fewer, more effective mines and less screen clutter.

No, it's an old and very cheap trick, that we saw a lot of before the big premades invented chain-stunning. With chain-stunning gone, they've just reverted to the old tactics.

Yes please! I've been in matches where the biggest problem has been finding a target! Not only problems clicking the target to select it, but actually problems seeing any enemy ships due to minespam!

Wouldn't this make them close to invisible? Then my poor escort would definately hit them!

That makes sense.

I hate clutter like that, that turns your lacking UI into their weapon. IMO, mine spam is right up there with abilities not activating. It's really a UI problem. The difference is that the mine situation is deliberatley created by a coordinated team effort.

If i had a say in it, each time a mine launcher activates it should drop one mine, but with 4x the damage of todays useless mines.

How about this:

A Mine launcher drops one mine. The mine is effectively stealthed, with a stealth value so that a regular ship can detect it only when the mine gets into locking range (the point the mine identifies a target and follows it).
Science Vessels and people with training in Sensor-related skills will have better detection chances, while training in the Mine related skills improves the stealth factor.

The Mines have about three times the destructive power of a torpedo of the same type. (This does not apply to Tri-Cobalt Mines as they never dropped alone.)

When you use a Mine Pattern, you still drop multiple mines - the overall damage of these mines is 25 % / 45 % / 65 % higher then the base damage, but split across 9 mines in a row or 9 mines in a circle pattern.

Yeah mine spamming is back in again. Almost everyone is doing it. You go into a PvP map and you usually wind up against a premade team of at least 3 science guys. Everyone has at least 2 mine launchers, and they use photonic fleet all the time. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen. I mean, you take away all those mines and you'd have a bunch of noobs who have no idea how to play.

See what they should do is, wait for it, NERF the mines (LOL, that should get a rise out of some people). Seriously though, why not make it very simple. Your mine launcher can launch 4 mines (lets just say). If after the recharge is up none of your mines have been used, then you can not launch anymore until they are used. If 1 is used, then you can launch 1, and so on. Plus they should put a llimit of how many mine launchers a ship can have. Also, a limit on how many total mines one team can have out at a time depending on how many of them have mine launchers with the maximum allowed mines out at a time to be like 12. Now that should clear out all the mine spammers and make them try to fight instead of sitting there letting their mines and photonic fleet do all the work.

For those who don't know, the second paragraph is a joke. If you want to beat them, join them. Have mine launchers in your inventory and do what they do. Have your team park somewhere and just spawn a ton of mines. Sooner or later, one team will get bored with waiting and will attack the other team. Or both teams will sit in a cloud of hundreds of mines all day and maybe, just maybe they'll learn something. However sooner or later, every PvP map will be filled with mine spammers and no one will play PvP anymore.

Oh by the way, I don't use mines. I never have. I find them very boring and a waste of time. But thats just me.

Pretty much most PvP matches I go into these days seem to be filled with vast, V'jer-like clouds of mines. It's not particularly OP or anything, like others say: just annoying. The general combination of Photonic & Mine spam (usually followed by Sensor Scramble spam) which everybody and their dog appears to be running makes for painfully dull PvP. But it's not really the players' fault (well, apart from the sheep/herd mentality people have, ie. let's all copy whatever TSI & Co. are doing this month). Blame Cryptic for gradually pushing them towards turning PvP into PvE.

I've disliked it since day one when it become so very popular to encounter the mine spaming, photonic fleet spaming, Boarding party spamming fedballs - but what can you do? They are legitimate powers.

OK I don't throw PF in thier as legitimate as I still fail to reason how a hologram can fire high energy weapons for damage without at least some mechanism in the holgram providing the powerbase.

I agree with this. I would like better targeting options.
