# 1 Some more newbie questions...
02-23-2011, 09:09 AM
I'm close to becoming Commander now (right now LtCmdr 8) - and there are still some general things I'm trying to figure out.

Ships:
Does everyone have only one main ship?
When I was promoted to LtCmdr, I had to choose between Cruiser and Escort - I chose the Cruiser. But when I think of it now - with all the money I'm making, I could easily afford to buy the Escort as well...

Maybe I wouldn't manage to equip both ships equally good and there are also some Skill choices regarding ship class - but anyway, to me it seems like worth trying.

My question: is anyone else doing this? Is that wise?

Anomalies:
In the beginning, I collected pretty much everything - random spread.
But recently, I'm drowning in biological samples while completely running low on mineral/radiation/alien artifact. And as the latter 3 are quite important for many schematics, this is causing some trouble...

In-game someone told me that the anomalies are "Tier-linked".
So mineral, for example, would be Tier1 and I should try to explore some low-level Clusters (like Delta Volanis).

Is that true? I'm finding it hard to believe that I would have to go back to low-level Clusters just to be able to craft schematics...

Thx...

Ships: Everyone pretty much has one ship they like better than all the others by the time they reach endgame. That being said, I would save my Energy Credits regarding possibly buying ships while leveling because every tier you can pick another class of ship for free and you don't spend just a ton of time at each tier any way.

You can totally buy all sorts of crazy ships and try different things at level cap so you might as well save your money until then. You can also respec your skills whenever you get promoted to a new rank so you aren't stuck flying cruisers the whole time if you specced into them earlier and now hate them.

I hope that answer helps, but as this is an MMO, and one where PvE isn't too incredibly difficult, you should be fine in whatever ship you choose with pretty much any skills you like. PvP is another story...

Anomalies: Whoever told you in-game that the anomalies are tier linked is right. But you don't have to do missions in the low level clusters just to farm anomalies, you can just farm them from the star cluster space map itself...just fly around and pick them up. Also, you can buy them on the exchange with all those EC you saved by not extra ships until endgame

Let me know if you have any more questions and I'll be happy to answer

Many people have done it more so a Admiral and above than at any other rank. You have to put skill points into you ships type ie cruiser etc. This gives you nice buffs to the ship stat such as hull strenght, shields and turn rate. Spreading them to far out can hurt you. However at Admiral and above theri are multiple ships withn the same class type. And once you hit Va the choices open up even more. As an exmaple for cruisers at VA there are 5 different choices. Cross classing ships can be done but a some sacrafice.

Nope its true. However, if you have an abundance of one anomoly you don't need ask aroud in zone chat while a memory alpha about trading. Usually you will find somene who will trade with you. Otherwise hit up Delta Volcanis and farm away.
Thx...
I hope this helped a little.

I used all kinds of ships with my Engineer and it was totally fine. If you're worrying about pvp min/maxing, skills are an issue, but for everything else, there's not much drawback. Because the first point gives you a lot more than later points, you can always put a couple points into each and then respec when you get higher up and know what kind of ship you want to focus on. So I'd say don't worry about saving your EC or skill points, just have fun with all the ships you want and you can always specialize later.
