I agree, the first two seasons were terrible. Barely any character development, lousy plot arcs, etc. Things started to get good in Season 3, and they got even better in Season 4, when they actually started the groudwork for the formation of the Federation. It's too bad that it was too little, too late. It would have been nice if the fans had started watching again when things got good in the 4th season. The show might have been saved.

Never really liked firefly although the chemistry between the characters was good. I suppose it was never given the chance to develop any. The movie that followed (which a lot of shows do not get) managed to tie some loose ends and at least gave it a very Trek "second star the the right" type of finale. Crusade was ok but lacked the deep character interaction and drama of B5 that made it so stellar.

Enterprise for me was bad because the characters were all colourless. I liked none of them from the beggining and they only saving grace was the Xindi plot and its great battle scenes. Despite that, many people saw potential in it, and thus whether we like it or not its part of canon.

In terms of the game people should feel free to experience it from any angle they want (TOS, TNG etc) without bias to a specific era. If the plan was to only allow ships ouside the established designs to emulate a future direction that decision would have be enforced from the beggining. At the moment too many features to be implemented and C Store material is tied to the established designs and the like making it impossible to draw any lines unless Cryptic makes servers that accomodate different timelines (or instances even).

I'll take a New Orleans as a top tier escort. Cruisers have Galaxy, and Sci's have Nebula. New Orleans would give escort captains a ship with a TNG look to it.

That actually sounds like a really good idea.

We may already have ships that do not belong (and I'd love to see them go away, too), but that is not a reason to add MORE of the same.
The reason to '...add more of the same...' is because people playing the game (other than you) want them, and are willing to pay/grind to get them... Economics from Cryptic's POV..., is the driving force, essentially.

It was too late by then because UPN didn't want it anymore...,

...they were already focusing on 'Other' Demographics by then and the big boss (Moon-Face) is in no way, shape, or form a Star Trek fan, so he killed it.

I like ENTERPRISE and lately have been re-watching the episodes..., when I'm not playing STO.

I still want a T5 Constitution refit. That ship is still awesome.
well on that you need to watch the Voyager episode "Equinox". the Voyager when it left the alpha quadrant was the top of the line and one of the newest ships there. the Equinox captain, captain Ransom and his crew were lost in the Delta quadrant for 10 years the Voyager at the time was only lost for 5. so the Nova was out well before the Intrepid.

You know given the galaxy class is 50 years old in the STO timeline, why shouldn't it "go away" too?

My point? If you REALLY want the 2409 era - it means NONE of the ships from ENT TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY, etc would be front line ships (and certainly NOT top tier vessels as the newest design from the 24th century era series is 30 years old.)

So, the next time you're pulling out your Galaxy or Defiant, or Intrepid, realize that if Cryptic STUCK to a 25th century time. (And don't even get me started on Starfleet allowing 40 year old uniform designs in the 25th century.)

So, please, get off your canon horse with regard to "ships that don't belong in the STO era" nonsense.
