# 1 Science or tac for melee?
03-03-2011, 12:25 AM
Hi Im wanting to make a melee charater to play on elite setting. Im not sure If I should make a science or tac for this. The science has the physian kit whcih can heal and buff melee. The tac has the melee kit which seems to have more offensive options.

What would be better for playing elite ground missions? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Tactical is definitely more fun with more abilities, and your skills give a pretty hefty passive buff to melee damage. Science you buff up and then stand there swinging. Not so interesting.

If you really want melee Tac is the answer. Sci isn't bad, it is certainly has more versatility, and I have seen it work. But Tac's is built to support melee directly, the close combat kit, the operative kit, the squad leader kit, all three are powerful tools for melee combat. So if ya wanna get in close tac will get ya there and get the job done.

The only time you want to melee with a sci is in The Cure, when you're at the final ground boss. That said, my cute Trill sci captain is pretty handy with a Nausicaan sword.

*coughs* my main is a sci/melee and it's little different from a tactical, we sacrifice a bit of DPS for greater survivability. My sci toon is quite literally, a tank. Both are fun, so mostly just pick whether you want an escort or a tank.
