Welcome back Car-El!

Here's some info on the Featured Episodes (aka Weeklies):
http://www.startrekonline.com/feature_episodes
http://forums.startrekonline.com/sho...d.php?t=177745
There have been three sets of Featured Episodes. The first two are "over" in that you can't get the Special Prize at this time, but the most recent (about the Romulans) is still active, so if you play through all five episodes by March 24th you'll get a special "Series" prize. Then go back and do the Breen (FE1) and Devidian (FE2) Missions. All are quite excellent!

Here's more details on the Borg Set:
http://www.stowiki.org/Assimilated_Borg_Technology

and the Aegis ("Tron") Set:
http://www.stowiki.org/Aegis

Memory Alpha was revamped in Season Three, and it's actually pretty good these days. If you go to Memory Alpha Romaine will give you a small Quest that demos how it's done. More info here too:
http://www.stowiki.org/Crafting

For further changes since you last played, take a look at the Release Notes:
http://forums.startrekonline.com/forumdisplay.php?f=118

For info of what's coming up in the future developments, check out the Engineering Reports:
http://forums.startrekonline.com/forumdisplay.php?f=158
(Feb 15th is the most recent update there.)

Finally, you can track posts from Cryptic employees in the Dev Tracker:

Enjoy!

which one is the mission where you have to liberate the assimilated researchers? I did that one solo. Took me a while, but I got it done.

Universal Assimilated console: Story mission: Assimilated
This mission is the only one that can be done solo and rewards with the console of the Borg set.

For the rest, you need to assemble a team of players to get through the STFs.

i am also recently returned, and i have been having the best time! im so pleased with all the new stuff ive seen, and i have not even seen very much at all. i started a new character, because i just wanted so build him up from scratch. 10 minutes after i got into spacedock for the first time, some dude gave me half a million credits, got me to join his fleet, and some other dude walked up and gave me that new aegis shield. weird, but cool.

my phasers are set to kill.

*edit*

I would also like to mention that i ran into a couple of fairly serious bugs.

severe crashing in the character creation screen. during naming, it crashed a bunch of times. had to restart every time.

the other one was that on quite a few away missions, my power bar stuff stopped working,. i could walk around, and order my dudes to attack, but i couldnt fire, or leg sweep, or anything other than watch. i could still pick up items too i guess.

ok, later.

Can the STF missions be done solo? When I left it was impossible to accomplish.
You can buy the Aegis on the exchange also but like others have said give Memory Alpha another chance and see if you like the changes.

Good lord, you've missed out! Thankfully you can play them all still!

There have been three weekly series' so far, and they've all been awesome. The first one is set in the Defari Sector and involves the Defari and the Breen. It can be acquired by chatting to the Defari ambassador on ESD near the water fountain. (At least I think he's near the fountain). The second is set in the sector block below and to the right of Sirius/Regulus (I forget the name now) and involves contacting Drake to get them. There's one or two spooky missions in that one.

The latest series is acquired by contacting Admiral T'nae, on Starbase 39 in the Psi Velorum sector block. Another great series, with some awesome environments and career-based choice paths and accolades.

Seriously, do them all. In order.
