# 1 Fighters and Mines

Cryptic.....As Im sure you all are already aware....scorpion fighters and cloaking tractor mines...need to be looked at. I am sure I'm not alone in the sentiment that a large portion of the player base had been begging for things that reduce the object spam/lag when in pvp...I really cannot comprehend the rational on your part for putting either of these items in game. They do NOTHING but add to the spam and/or lag in PvP.

There has not been anything yet in game that regrets me buying a lifetime membership...but you adding these two items as part of an episode series reward during the same time frame that players were begging you all to do things to reduce object lag/spam has me regretting my lifetime membership.

I don't think reducing their number by 1 is going to do anything. Cryptic always works around a problem than actually solving it.

For instance the Carrier Fighter Spam, they get nerfed because there is too much and lo and behold, everyone now is able to carry fighters.

And those same fighters can follow cloaked ships and sometimes become neutral where you can't attack them at all, but they can attack you.

With Tractor Beam Mines, Chroniton Mines, and Tricobalt Mines, it would significantly reduce the spam if people had to invest at least 7 in Mines and 7 in Projectiles for them to use their effect. (Tractor Beam Mines requiring at least 5 skill points invested in Tractor Beams).

I love my scorpions and tractor mines in PvE, and would hate to lose them. I have to admit, I'm less than thrilled with them in PvP. With the addition of the mines, I've had to turn graphic settings down, even though I have a pretty decent gaming machine that exceeds all the "recommended" stats. I'm also tired of getting caught by even more tractor beams.

Yes, I have counters, but the "too much of a good thing" concept has now kicked in for me.

Surprisingly, I'm now in Azurian's camp. Though my solution would be to have some device slots that were for PvE only devices, and they would exclude the scorpions, tractor mines, and anything else the Devs are thinking of for the future that would also create these types of problems.

I wouldn't say they have to have PvE device slots. What I suggested in the past, and still believe Cryptic should do, is have 2 different settings for gear and abilities (one for PvP the other PvE).

Why? Because everytime Cryptic adds something new or tweeks things around, it either causes frustration in the PvE side or the PvP side. A prime example of this was during last summer when Cryptic drastically reduced the DPS of escorts, which caused serious problems with the first part of Khitomer Accord. And now recently the opposite is true with the Scorpion Fighters and the TBMs.

So right now Cryptic has to go back and figure out a balance that wouldn't ruin PvE, but not be annoying in PvP either.

Now if Cryptic used a 2 Value system, Item A could have it's full capability in PvE, but in PvP it's turned off. Or Power X is too powerful in PvP, but is necessary for PvE. So the X's PvP Value is adjusted to Y value, where its still effective in PvP, but not overpowering.

So in the end, there is no radical rebalancing the entire game and Cryptic's team save time in the process.

However, the last time I suggest this, I was told that STO's programming might not be able to handle such an idea. But if it does, I think it will benefit all of us.

Cryptic barely has the resources to keep a good schedule on the existing balance tweaks thy make. Having to manage basically two power systems at the same time seems madness.

And they _have_ to ensure some type of balance in PvE as well. Otherwise, the STFs become entierly meaningless, and PvE combat becomes even more of a farce.
