How do you milk a tiger? Send a "not-so-good" friend to do it?

Why? Because everytime Cryptic adds something new or tweeks things around, it either causes frustration in the PvE side or the PvP side. A prime example of this was during last summer when Cryptic drastically reduced the DPS of escorts, which caused serious problems with the first part of Khitomer Accord. And now recently the opposite is true with the Scorpion Fighters and the TBMs.

So right now Cryptic has to go back and figure out a balance that wouldn't ruin PvE, but not be annoying in PvP either.

Now if Cryptic used a 2 Value system, Item A could have it's full capability in PvE, but in PvP it's turned off. Or Power X is too powerful in PvP, but is necessary for PvE. So the X's PvP Value is adjusted to Y value, where its still effective in PvP, but not overpowering.

So in the end, there is no radical rebalancing the entire game and Cryptic's team save time in the process.

However, the last time I suggest this, I was told that STO's programming might not be able to handle such an idea. But if it does, I think it will benefit all of us.
no no no no no

This is a bad idea, we want more pve guys o join pvp, if you seperate them any mroe than they already are, then no new pvpers will come. Our community will die

How is having 2 values going to chase away people?

Quite simple - they see that what ever they have learned about their abilities and understood, will not work like that in PvP. That means the barrier to entry is even bigger, because you cannot even rely that what you have learned is still true.

A skill that is overpowered will ruin PvE just as much as it ruins PvP, in the long run. But noone will ever complain that their power is OP against the Borg... PvP balances PvE, and keeps things interresting.

I thought it would help them have a better chance, but im not going to argue anymore. Seems that nothing will satisfy the community to give PvErs a chance and increase the PvP Population.

And if there is no compromise, then there is no future for PvP in STO.

I am primarily PVE but I started to venture into PVP. But I can't stand the lag from spamming. I just finished a pug area and all you could see was tractor beam, chrontron, and other spammed mines. our team kept moving engagement spots to try to clear out the screen, but they would just respam. i don't mind mines, i think they can have their place, its just too many kill the experience.

I wouldn't want a newbie to have yet *another* learning curve to worry about. It would make things less fun in an environment where they already get rofl-stomped for the first few weeks of their starting to PvP.
