# 1 Is PvP full of Broken Mechanic?

Seems PvP is becoming full of these broken mechanics lately.

Right now at the top of the list is Beam Fire at Will, but I'm thinking Tactical Team and Repulsors need to be tweeked as well.

Tactical Team has become too much of a psudo RSP.

Repulsors, well after encountering a certain someone on the forum knocking my Escort's hull to 40% with this ability alone seems like something that should be targeted as well. Not too long ago before the FAW change, my Cruiser being killed by a PvP fleet using nothing but Repuslors.


So to me it seems more and more STO PvP is getting worse and worse in dependance on abilities, and I'm sure I'll get flak for this, but Cryptic seriously needs to start from scratch.

You've been saying this same thing since as far back as I can remember. Now, once again it's about someone doing something to you that you didn't want them to to. Just because there are some things that need to be addressed, I suppose that validates everything you've ever said. Keep on, keepin' on, chief.

What really needs a nerf is all the EPtX cannon rapid fire HY and CSV. RSP needs its cooldown set to 15 seconds at most and its duration set to 14 seconds.

The problem with any MMO is that the game evolves. I think there have been other posts in the PvP forum about the nature of PvP to be constantly seeking a "holy grail" of balance or what not. I think the best thing for an MMO dev team to do is avoid making one power so awesome it's the only thing used, ever, and try to make multiple builds viable options. Other than that... well, I dunno.

If someone figures out how to use a power in a nifty way, is that a bad thing? Only if that nifty way is so great that everyone starts using that power in that way only. I hadn't heard anything about repulsors until this post, which says to me that one group was able to find a way to use them in a nifty way. Since I'm not seeing a bunch of "nerf repulsors" posts, I'm guessing that there are other viable ways to kill people, which means repulsors are fine. If/when the day comes that everyone and their mother are using repulsors, and repulsors only, then you have an issue. Other powers should be looked at the same way.

Tac team IMO is working nicely, and is giving Escorts a little better survivability without sacrificeing important slots.

TBR...Realy? To get serious damage of them you have to commit to them, both with skillpoints and equipment. Think about it, the hard TBR version is competing with CPB3, SS3, GW3, CRF3 and more. I don't think it's overly powerful compared to any of those.

My list of bad mechanics would include:
- SS3 (needs reliable clearing and resist upon expire)
- FAW 1-3 (needs to only taget NPCs with secondary attack)
- Mines (should be 1 strong mine per drop)
- Heals (needs 10-15% reduction in regen and resistance across the board)

you DO realize this would make it virtually impossible to kill anything?

i shiver to think of how horrible RSP was last summer, and your proposal is even worse...

Tactical team could be readjusted to have the shield redistribution tied to the level of the tactical team, but it isn't that much of a problem, since you probably need SNB for any target with decent healing (or healing support) anyways (which is not good, but sadly a fact).

Repulsors... it has been mentioned that TBR competes with other very useful sci skills and requires spec+aux power to be effective. And even then it is only hull damage, which means it doesn't soften you up for regular attacks, because your shields are still there. And there are true hard counters like polarize hull. It might have potential to be really annoying like the wave of GW spam we had a couple of months ago if it becomes FOTM, but I think "broken mechanic" is an exaggeration.

IMHO, it's too effective. The worst ability becomes the best overnight.

If you ask me, the current TT1's shield distribution ability should be for TT3, while TT1's be slightly better than manual distribution. That way people would actually use it.

It may so, but when it does 20k in damage, to me that's no better than old FBP3 or current FAW with DEM.

Honestly, PvP is getting worse and worse with abilities. At this rate, people will get tired of it by summertime.
