Now let me begin by saying I never epxect to see this done and ma just talking about a thought I had.
I was reading a book today and started thinking about how cool it would be if STO could be divided by era. The idea would be basically to have 4 servers.
1) STO Pre-Federation
The first server would be set in the time of the EDnterprise series. This would include story lines dealing with the birth of the Federation and the Earth/Romulan war.
STO: The Orginal Series
Title explains it all, STO set in the era of TOS.
STO: Next Generation
This one again is easy to understand, set in the TNG/DS9/Voyager era.
STO: Boldy Going
This would be the STO we know today. one set in the future after the destruction of Romulas and Remus and into the unknow future of the franchise.
This would be so cool and would seriously have been hurting for play time since each would have it's appeal.

NO. it would NEVER Happen.. because Servers can't Handle that or more. sorry
very nice dream and good idea. you wouldn't have to change sector space too much, just copy each for the various time periods and make the modifications. I would imagine the earlier time periods could have smaller over all maps because less space would have been explored by then. We already have uniforms and ships of the various eras. The server could be an issue, but I would imagine the relative number of users would be the about same as each would gravitate to their fravorite era. There might even be an increase in subscriptions if people knew they could play their fantasies in their favorite trek eras.
