None of the 2409+ stuff feels very Trek without a good foundation of pre-2409 material. Sure I want to see new stuff added to the game, but I want to see the old stuff more.
Like anything in art, you can not make your own new designs without having a good foundation and ability to replicate real life people/objects. This goes for STO. We will not have a good future Trek without having developed the past Trek.
I think the 2409 stuff gets better and "more Trek" the more time logged that the artists spend on classic Trek stuff. They're good artists but they get more "Trek authentic" with their original designs the more they do the old designs. I don't think the 2409 stuff will be perfect until they've got all the TOS-to-Voyager assets in and then really start making 2409 stuff as a progression of that. There's a design lineage and I'm not sure they'll get it as well as they could if they keep skipping to the end (and, in the process, forgetting things like the blinky lights under the viewscreens).
Doing 2409 stuff allows people to make a lot of concessions to practicality because "It's brand new; you've never seen it before!"
Doing the stuff chronologically through the series forces them to make fairly established designs work with their tech so that, when the original designs come, they won't be the product of technical concessions.
I also personally kinda think that they never should have put 2409 stuff on the C-Store and that the C-Store should feature regular releases of non-2409 stuff. Which may force it to come slower since it will be competing for attention with Featured Series but, the way I see it, the ideal would be for the C-Store to be ENTIRELY non-2409 stuff and the game subscription to cover any 2409 stuff, since nobody is a fan of 2409 coming into the game.
this makes the most sense of everything i EVER read on this Forum!
You changed my mind, i do NOT want the TNG Interrior NEXT anymore, let them do the TMP stuff first and LEARN how to do it right, the better the TNG stuff will be!
