I stopped playing MK when you needed 10 hour courses to pull off the Fatalities. I think that was around the time they added 'Friendships', 'Bablities', IRS audits and a slew of other ridiculous finishing moved.
Yeah i'm not usually too big on fighters, but this particular franchise holds a special place in my heart. One of the dojos I trained in when I was really young used to have the first three games and after classes all the kids would hang out for a couple hours playing old school MK.
The new game is a throwback to the original and it's 2D sequels in a lot of ways, which is what appeals to me. The story mode looks pretty amazing this time around as well... in that is actually has a story progression with chapters and dialog, etc... as well as the traditional arcade ladder mode for people that prefer that..
