  • Reserve a Tactical Cube for a CE-type Fleet action. Tac Cubes are the uppermost echelon of Borg combat tech and should require no less than the most organization-oriented mission type in the game.
This, pretty much. There's nothing in the above I would change, Cryptic seems to have used Cubes too cheaply by far.

Actually i did find myself scared by borg recently (but it was a UI/user error) I was playing at Advanced, and I had set my escorts energy profile for speed rather than attack... took me nearly 10 minutes dropping to 50% hull or less before I was able to take down a single sphere... I thought "did Imiss something in a dev post" ... then I noticed my energy settings (doh!)

But, it felt tough, it felt challenging, so maybe thats what they need to do, buff the defences of the borg by a factor of 3; the weapons profile was about the same (e.g. my shields are still low (ish), as i normally run in "attack" mode).

Excuse me, but the Shield Neutralizer IS in the game. Every cube has it, it drops your shields to zero in like 5 seconds and tactical cubes can fire them like every 5 seconds at you even. You can counter it with Hazard Emitters btw.
if you are on the receiving end of a High Yield Plasma Torpedo after that you are pretty much dead.
I even got explodigated by a direct hit with shields at full capacity (AEGIS!!!!)
I call that scary. Although it would be better if teh plasma torpedo goes and is replaced by that unique proton (probably) cutting beam slicing through your hull. But only on the cubes, spheres are annoying enough with their endless tractor beams.
I would also give them a stacking resistance against the energy type used against them with a cap at 75% (do they already have that ability?)
That way you take them down fast or your in for a struggle.

The future of the Borg looks bright and beautiful full of classic Borg behavior and look too. Can't wait to witness the assimilation of the Gorn Homeworld and to see a Gornborg.

To be honest, a fight against a Borg Cube should take as much effort as the fleet action with the Crystalline entity.

However as the Borg are a regular enemy in this game, that's hardly viable.

They could throw the borg vessel that the rogue borg who were under Lore's influence/control, that vessel was stronger then the galaxy Class, but appears a lot smaller then the on show sphere they used in Voyager, which could engulf Voyager, completely enveloping it, it was huge. not the little thing we face in the game.

The vessel from the episode Descent would be a good intermediary between the probes and the sphere.

I remember when I first saw first contact, the borg where expletive scary, all grey mottled skin and utterly relentless in charging at security teams. this is what they need to be like, you have to see a borg and feel like running in the other direction.

It is a little disapointing that the federations greatest enemy, where a single ship took out 39 ships uncontested can be destroyed 1v1.

The Borg will be more "scary" soon...in the May 2011 Ask Cryptic, executive producer Dan Stahl has this to say:

A: Heck Yes! But we are doing both. We are revamping both the TNG Borg so that they have adaptive shielding and are more badass like I remember them being, and the newer Borg are also getting a revamp similar to what we did with the Romulans. As far as when will we see more of them? Very soon; and in big ways.

Oh that is encouraging news. I hope that they have a few weapon upgrades and that the Cubes become much larger, less prevalent, and more scary! The Borg offer such a vastly different variety of game play if Cryptic just has the time to take to make them more like the unstoppable force in TNG.
