Seriously, who gives a damn. The American News media certain would like you to think everyone is making a big deal over it but i have yet to met anyone in America who cares. Do the Brits even care?

Thank God for Netflix.

If I recall correctly, Americans opposed the crown twice. So why would we care if they/when get married? Besides, isn't the monarch completely powerless now? Why is being royal so important?

But to answer your question, I didn't care when Clinton got married; I don't care now.

Two rich people getting hitched. Yeah, no I got better things to do.

Kinda reminded of when Princess Di passed away. Let me preface this with saying it was sad, tragic and absolutely horrible that the UK lost the People's Princess... but the three-days of music, funeral parades and remembering her on just about every channel really got abrasive. I really don't even know if many Americans even knew who she was.

To be fair I sort of feel the same way about 9/11. Yes it was a horrific tragedy, but there have been other terror attacks all over the world, and hardly anybody remembers those. The only reason 9/11 is even in the public conciousness is because it happened on American soil.

The death toll was higher than the attack on pear harbor, a military action. Maybe that might cause it to stick out like a sore thumb, or at least more so than some cafe bombing in Tel Aviv. Or it could be that it caused the longest war in modern history. Me I dont think its because it happened on American soil, I think its because it was the biggest attack made to date, possibly for the rest of history. But personally, it sticks out because it happed in my neck of the woods to people I know. So maybe I'm biased.

I concur. The smoke from it reached here, I did volunteer work there with my fire department and moreover 3000+ = not 1, no matter how good that one is.

BUT. I will say this. I believe it is because of the whole fairytale mentality that seems to have settled around royal families... which I don't understand. I mean really, hereditary rule, monarchies and the like, have they ever done anything good? Let people have their escapism, sure beats Jersey Shore for a change and it may even lead to some being more cultured.
