The letter is just an information (got it myself on monday). The necessary adjustments to network ifrastructure have been done quite some time ago.
Its now time to test and hope that the cognet issue is solved. Yesterday looked good, will try again tonight.

Agreed. Again nice and smooth connectivity to forums, Launcher and Patchserver.
For a final "things are back to normal" notice I would wait until after easter, since the trafficload for the next days will be less then it is during normal weekdays and weekends because a lot of people are on short vacation trips and the usual business traffic will be missing on friday and monday. If things keep stable that until 30.04. I think we can be quite sure things are solved.

Things are looking indeed better now. I played so far 3 hours straight and nowhere a problem with my direct connection.

I can't try to login as I'm not at home. Anyway I'm the ISP where I am is Alice as well here and I just did a traceroute. It is not going over London anymore, acutally not over Cogent at all:

confirmed, I'm not routing via Cogent any more, also via tinet,

looks like telefonica took the plunge and rerouted

I'm on O2 in the UK and when I ran a traceroute today, I saw that just like GSIO01 and Dyce9984 above, I'm no longer routing via Cogent at all, but rather via telefonica.

And I now have no problems with either the forum or the STO game launcher (or the Champions launcher either of course).

Make me wonder if the affected providers got POed with Cogent's tardiness in addressing this issue and simply took them out of the equation altogether. So fingers crossed that's an end to this particular hassle!

Props to Cryptic for weathering the flak on this one btw - this really was an issue beyind their control, but they did still do what little was within their power to do and keep the comms up between themselves and companies on the other side of the Cogent divide..

The Cogent Divide, hmm...would make a good name for a sector of space dominated by singularities that collapse warp fields and slow any ships passing through to a crawl...

Same here. No more Cognet along the route and everything running smoothly.
I would say case closed

We've done a bit of magic to try and stabilize the routing over Easter.
This is sadly not a permanent solution and we may have other routing at a later time. Should the situation change for you again, please do let us know!
