I challenge someone to bring this series to life in the Foundry

I find it interesting that, like many series that try to be 'different' and 'thought provoking', that as a series that is attempting to go 'back to its roots', the direction they take everything for the factions is decidedly un-Trek like in their evolution.

Not to say it's bad. But it's certainly very different and off-base a bit.

I think you have most people busy with the city challenge at the moment

I think the Foundry definitely has the potential to allow an author to do a 10-15 mission story arc. I wouldn't attempt a project of that scope now, just doing 5 is going to be quite time consuming. But with some refinements to the system, I could definitely see it becoming practical.

A team of people could also work together to develop a plot for each episode, and then each person do one episode. That way no one person would have to use all their slots.

It's an interesting idea, but it violates a whole lot of canon to get there (like klingons joining the Federation by 26th century, or the lack of time travel in the 30th century.)

I am not sure I like the direction. I don't think dissolving the Federation Utopia is so great.

The DS9 way to introduce more ambivalence and challenging the Utopia was good, but you can go too far, IMO.
At a minimum, I want to see a clear path leading to "rebuilding" this Utopia. But it honestly doesn't fit canon. The Federation doesn't fail, not ultimately. It might have to face obstacles - like the war against the Dominion was one, requiring to make compromises - but still for a greater good. I don't like the idea just because we haven't had a series for the intervening years, suddenly Lost Paradise like usurpations or Babel conferences are failing.

If they want more conflict, they need to bring the next Enterprise crew back to the border regions, unexplored space. If they want serialized, peace treaties and conflict resolutions don't always have to be resolved in a week's episode.

The TOS Enterprise was Starfleet's only defense in a large area of space. You can go back to that if you go far out of the Federation Territory.

even though the series was never made, can you actually make a series based off of someone pitch? isnt that stuff still someone property?

This is a gray area. You're deriving a work off someone else's work, which is a form of infringement.

However, you are working of a pitch, so it could be argued that this derivative non-profit work could not be, and it's especially difficult since this is an unofficial piece of fiction that isn't considered part of the Trek verse.

While the idea is neat, even if arguable on how Trek it really is, it would probably be in good nature to not be using someone else's work, unless you have their permission.

It's an interesting idea (the pitch), only thing I'm pouty about is the idea of MAJEL, which is a sentient ship which is really an idea GR already had (in Andromeda) and something I had in mind for a trek series too (although in a different extreme) and a mission/foundry idea I have...

Still, I do agree that even though it's just a pitch, I believe it might be already their idea and making foundry missions off of it may break some rule or law somewhere...

There's actually probably a good possibility it's registered with the Writer's Guild, which means it'd likely be a violation of some sort.
