Like I said Im not that savvy when it comes to computers but if my system is below the minimum requirements then why did it run for over a year with only one issue that was resolved with a bigger power pack.I had overheating problems about 3 months after launch. In the past I have had very little lag that was resolved by reseting my router.
you can sometime get a unsupported hardware to work but there is not promises it will continue to do so. the devs code the game to the minimium specs and at any patch there may be a feature or function added that the unsupport hardware can no longer handle.
Myeah having HEAVY lag in STO also right now, pingtest etc. for other applications/games is yielding excellent results, just STO seems to be hammered with lag. And I do mean REALLY bad lag. Clean up yer servers Cryptic!

Heh, just tried Rift to see if it was on my end, ironically it's working fine so it's definitely an issue with Cryptic (yet again!). Honestly, I can play with bugs just as long as they're not uber major, but I can NOT play with lag like this tbh.

i did two of the breen mission at 300 this morning
Yep, trying again and it seems the ping keeps hanging around 350+ms the entire time. I spend about 4 hours playing Anarchy Online at a stable ping of 22ms with vent's ping at 23ms stable. Seriously Cryptic, it can't be that hard to keep the servers stable, can it?
And it it's an external problem then here's how to fix the problem: Cancel contract, get a new contract with a company that has half a brain and voila, issues solved.
I'd be happy if it was just lag, but instead I just get disconnected. Coincidentally, it's only when I play STO or CO, and it seems to dump off in that cogentco.com network...hmm...wonder where the problem may be?
been lagging/DCing for about a week now, it was really bad when mapchanging the last few days, and today it's unplayable (upwards of 20 seconds server timeout, 5-10 seconds fine, 20 seconds server timeout, rinse and repeat)

ran nettest and port 7003 took a LONG time to complete (over 5 minutes) which, for a 61KB download, is not normal at all. no changes to my machine since it was working; machine definitely fits minimum requirements (core i5 quadcore proc, 4gb ddr3, radeon 5550 w/1024 onboard, 275GB space free) and i have no other problems with anything (speedtest shows 9mbps down, just shy of 1mbit up, quakelive, dungeons and dragons online, and WoW all function flawlessly) soooooooooo
