The "rescue missing ship" thing is something all the Star trek series did frequently as well.
But, really, if it is done well then I've got nothing against these types of missions.

I think ANY possible plot has been done by now.

This could also be a Monty Python sketch.

Didn't create the most horrifying mission imaginable yet, even available for both factions:

UFP - Groundhog Day

You are stuck in a temporal anomaly and find yourself reliving the same day over and over again.
Unfortunately it's the golden wedding day of your Klingon parents-in-law and Ghark is the main course. Can you escape this horrible scenario, before we reach the 10-maps-max, Captain?

UFP - Groundtarg Day

You are stuck in a temporal anomaly and find yourself reliving the same day over and over again.
Unfortunately it's the golden wedding day of your Human parents-in-law. You won't let the chance pass to kill them ten times, but: Can you escape before we reach the 10-maps-max, Captain?

This actually has me leaning towards making Ferengi episodes as I feel they tend to break the STO mold somewhat if done right.

That's why I went with the Obsidian Order. "But Bob, them boys got wiped out when they got all up in the Dominion's face!"

...or did they?

I think we missed an overused element:
  • "Things are not as they seem."

So this would be: Find a missing Borg ship at ESD that is full of mobs, but things are not as they seem....

I actually have a pretty interesting story in the works... uses some elements of things that happened in the past, visits a sector of space where a Ship was destroyed... (VIA a TOTALLY different sector, because the one I want to use does not exist in the game. I would like to know whose star chart Cryptic was following... *sigh*) and an introduction to a menace of the federation...

But reading this, I have since decided to change the mission giver to someone at Deep Space K7. Originally I had it set up for ESD
