# 1 We need bridge modules.

This has nothing to do with bridge customization. It has everything to do with Boff slot customization.

I think a bridge module should be available for every ship that determines the boff layout for that ship. These modules could be craftable and swappable for ships within the same tier and class. Don't like the look of the star cruiser? Put a star cruiser bridge module into a Gal-R or a Sovereign and suddenly you have the star cruiser's boff slots. Put a T5 fleet escort bridge module in an advanced escort and suddenly you have more engineering options instead of science for that ship.

This would affect no other stats for the ship - not the crew, or the consoles or weapon layout or anything like that. I think most people would prefer to fly the ship they like the look of the most. This would allow them to do that while keeping with the play style they like the most.

Also since it would not change the console slots, you would not be as effective using a bridge module from a science heavy cruiser on a tactical heavy cruiser because you'd have less of a bonus from the fewer science consoles on said tactical ship, and so forth with other ship classes. This would provide an incentive for people who only care about maxing abilities to use a certain ship class.

This would not allow you to put a cruiser bridge module into an escort or science ship, however. Just swap between ships of the same class and tier only.

I like your idea.

I don't see it happening though.

If I don't mention it, the chance of it happening is 0%.
If I do mention it, the chance of it happening is probably 0.1%. Still an improvement!

hmm... it's an interesting idea, i'll give you that

but, being able to rearrange the bridge officer slots with no restrictions or penalties? that wouldn't be too good for the game balance... it needs something to work against it, to make it fair or balanced (or at least, i think so)

I do recall them saying something about taking another look at how T5 ships had their boffs layed out around when the Excelsior was released. Unfortunately that was the first and last time we heard anything about it.

The restrictions are there. Look at all the T5 cruisers as an example. The slot layouts we already have would not change, they would only be attached to a specific bridge module. You could fly a Sovereign, but you'd only have the choice of boff slots from the Assault Cruiser, Star Cruiser, Retrofit Explorer or Retrofit Advanced Heavy Cruiser.

Also since the consoles wouldn't change, you'd still suffer a penalty to the performance of your different boffs due to fewer consoles in their area of expertise.

I like it. Options are good. I'm assuming that this would be independent of any C-Store bridges, right? Also, currently you can use any bridge on any ship. I'm guessing that would have to change, unless you had the default BOff layout apply when any incompatible bridge was in use.

I like the ships being unique, and not just fluff. Otherwise this whole game really is "Star Trek Dress-up", as one guy put it. Not something I'm into, and not something I'll be on board for changing.

This has nothing to do with how your bridge interior looks. The bridge module would be like the impulse engines or shield array, etc. It fits in a module slot, determines the boff slots, and is swappable with other bridge modules from different ships in the same class and tier. The appearance of the bridge would be whatever you choose it to be, like we have now. Each ship would have its default bridge module that its current boff slots reflect.

I'm sorry you feel that way, because what you're saying is that ships and setups should be determined by Cryptic-defined cookie cutters and not by personal choice.

And considering all the clothing options that have been released, not to mention the cosmetic options for each ship, this game already is "Star Trek Dress-up". You're too late.
