Well I can't find a picture of it, but my favorite is the Dahak II, a Battle-Planetoid from the Empire from the Ashes series by David Webber.
Self-aware starship the size of Earth's moon. Has launchers for several hundred missiles with various warheads such as fusion, anti-matter, gravitonic, and hyper-shifting. Also has internal hyper-missile launchers that launcher said missile in hyperspace, allowing it to instantly appear at the target. Numerous energy weapons of the laser and hyper-laser variety. And several kinetic weapons because they can.
Shields can withstand a supernova. Or 25,000 antimatter warheads exploding at once.
Has both a hyperdrive and Echnicach Drive, that is like a hyper-hyper drive. The E-drive can't be used within .1 light years of a star, else the star will go supernova.
Sub-light battleships that ride around inside the ship. Each Battleship is a couple kilometers long
2 automated emergency dockyards with working mass replicators
60,000-80,000 crew. In luxury. There are on board parks and other family recreational facilities. And the crew have been biologically and cybernetically enhanced. They can lift major appliances with one hand, shrug off bullets, see across all ranges of the spectrum, project energy shields, filter out toxins from their blood, and have a 6 hour emergency air supply in case they find themselves ejected into the vacuum or underwater.
hmm so like in Homeworld one where there is the ball of enemy ships I could capture all of them and keep them? Thats actually how i beat that mission, I have no idea how to actually finish it...other then luring one ship at a time
The series was a mixed bag but I liked the Glorious Heritage-class heavy cruiser from "Andromeda". It was so self-sufficient (it could even rearm/repair itself by mining materials from asteroid belts)!
