***sigh*** One ought to merge all of these threads together so it would be easier to use a SNB on it...lol
Yeah, it's been discussed for over a year at this point. But, rather than just SNB them all, why not let the devs actually "dev" something thats actually being asked for, rather than giving us uniforms, T2 ships and replay missions?
To the actual thread....the skins of all the lower tiered skins of the same ship type should be available at higher tiers (cruiser skins, science skins, escort skins exclusively). So, no Star cruisers looking like a Nova, but that same Star Cruiser can look like the T2 Constitution if the player wants, with all the Star Cruiser stats (we're just talking looks here).
Folks shouldnt have to give up their favorate ship design for the sake of upgrading. At least make it somthing to look forward to when making Vice Admiral. For me it would be the Soverign class. I'm sure other folks had a faverate design that they had to givbe up upon being promoted. Riker once said one of the perks of being an Admiral was being able to choose your ship.
There are some real good looking Nacelles and Saucers already in the game available to lower tier ships, some of them just need only slight tweaking to be used on Tier 5 ships.
I think that there is so much great potential just not used in STO when it comes to ship design.
For example, for three days now i try to create a half decent looking assult cruiser, but somehow it just doesn't work.
Exept for the Sovereign (which appearance i am not a fan of) no ship parts seem to fit very well with the others.
Sometimes the pylons are too narrow, sometimes too wide. Most of the time the nacelles are just too huge, except for the imperial ones. The hull is much too narrow, while sometimes the neck doesn't really fit.
I find it extremely hard to assemble even a halfway visually acceptable ship, most of the time the ships end up looking just too fragile.
I whish that we had ship parts form some previous cruisers available when kitbashing our ships.
I understand that it wouldn't be possible to make ALL parts available to ALL ships, but some ships like the Assault cruisers, the Galaxy Classes and the T5 Excelsiors really need some more good looking options.
(But those are only the ships i use, other ship caleese surely need more options too.)
I think that pylons and nacelles should be the easiest ship part to be make availlable to high tier ships, followed by some Saucers.
I just cannot comprehend what the responsible designer was thinking when designing that stuff:
Those ship parts not only ugly as hell, but it is also nearly impossible to make something good looking when combining them with other ship parts.
Instead of giving us more ugly ship parts when introducing the Imperial class (the only usable pieces are nacelles IMHO), the devs should have (and still can) just unlock some tier 2 and 3 cruiser parts for us.
I still don't get why they not give us some more options, i mean i can't be that hard to adapt some nacelles, saucers and pylons to be usable on a Assault Cruiser or a Excelsior, or give the Galaxy -R and -X some more options since the tier 4 Galaxy variants are already in the game. (At least we should get some more nacelles and pylons options.)
Another thig i don't understand is why can't we just flip some pylons from facing backwards to facing forwards (or vice versa), sometimes that could do wonders when i'm trying to create a decent looking ship.
Please don't missunderstand what i am saying, i am not blaming the devs for anything, i am just curious why we have such limited options after over a year STO.
After the first one or two months there where many new ship costumes coming out really fast, but now there is virtually nothing since over half a year and absolutely nothing on the horizon.
I have stated this numerous times now, but we see our ships about 50% of the game time, and for me it is really frustrating to have an ugly bucket in front of my nose all that time, while knowing that a simple sollution could be done with just some little effort IMHO.
