If you read the sentence you snipped right after that . . . every ground match being a race to see which side can drop 50+ phaser turrets first seems pretty boring. It's funny once, and after that it's just . . . meh.

I don;t see what the problem is with adding Boffs. I frankly quite like the idea of having to build a new team of BOffs for the purpose of PvP - it gives me a use for that pile of unused BOffs I have that never see the light of day.

What I woudl really love to see is PvP takin place in zones where there are NPCs trying to complete an objective. This might provide a vital stepping stone to Persistent PvP environments for example.

Examples of this might include:

Straightforward battlles between oposing factions where the player is among an NPC fleet
Fighter PvP with a carrier / starbase to defend
KDF raid groups with NPC merchants
Allied npc ships with an objective to complete which you support / attact
- Bombard a planet
- Conduct a landing
- Perform a scientific action
- clear a minefield

Even a team of 5 engineers could only drop 5 phaser turrets. Besides, with good Tac or Sci players, matches get exciting - and they can't drop turrets. But I love ground PvP, so I guess we won't agree there.

The point about bringing a 3 turret BO to a PvP match is still valid, though. No idea how to counter that... I can't see many other BOs being used in a PvP match. The best way to allow BOs into PvP would be to make a new type of map/objective, perhaps involving other NPCs like a Fleet Action...

Pets - the neverending problem for STO PvP?

Ummmm . . . no. Did you read the OP? The question is about bringing a full away team to ground PvP.

An engineer captain can drop 1 mortar turret and 1 seeker drone with a fab specialist kit; and they get 1 innate support drone; which is just another flying turret. Add four engineer BOFFs for each captain; and each BOFF drops 3 more turrets (total of 12). That means 15 turret/drone pets per captain x 5 = 75. And that's just one team. With two full teams of engineer captains on the map, that's up to 150 pets in one room. Even if none of the captains are engineers, you still have 5 x 12 = 60 turrets per team from the BOFFs alone (if any of them are tacs, then chuck in their 4 security escorts each on top . . .)

The point is that nobody is going to go into any ground PvP map with any setup other than four engineers, because overpowering pet spam will be the sole deciding factor in every match. Like I said; it's probably funny once. After that it's just boring and lame.

But as mentioned earlier, that is not a reason to nerf it.

Oh, I thought you meant that ground PvP in its current state is monotonous and hilarious. Naturally a full away team of BOs would never be feasible in PvP, for the reason you state, unless Cryptic made some sort of new map for it. I would still like to see a map where 1 BO was allowed in PvP, just because it might be cool.

Heck, they could just let us play with 1 BO in Arena matches on Tribble, just to test it out.

A ground combat similar to the Bad Company's Rush mode or Gears of War VIP mode. A mode where the objectives were on the move in some way.

What is wrong with actually having PvP? Why does it always end up PvP+E+E+E+E in STO? I would love a new universal kit that brings 1 Boff with you. But at the same time get rid of tac redshirts and eng drones (photonic fleet too) for balance.

It doesn't have to be PvPvE... it's just that right now, BOs are an essential part of the ground game only half the time. It would be nice if the time people invested in BO was useful during ground PvP. Plus, it might be fun.
