I agree with you Roach, however there is nothing wrong in trying to limit the "creative" thinking that for some (in this case appearently most) would ruin the expirience for the players.

Theres a great deal of oppersition to the mere notion of a Fed carrier in this game....

However the point was here: Did the Federation or did they not have a carrier in the series... Since we've never seen any ships launch fighters, and we've always seen fighters flying on their own, it is reasonable to assume there never were any.

Its nice to know I can still make sense sometimes, though I was just trying to point out that canon is both open and limited due to its particular viewpoint of the story being told.

Old wounds and the beliefs that fostered them heal slowly..............

Its seems they wanted one at one time but it was shot down as a concept before reaching the series in a live form.
I can only imagine because the Federation does not foster violence as thier primary ideology and a carrier (as designed for space) is a vessel made just for conflict.

The best answer to those whom want to fly a carrier is go make a Klingon faction toon and if a KDF wishes to fly a MVA escort they must go make a fed. Seems fairly simple and fair.

About that...

When you think of it FED's have their counter part to the KDF carrier: The MVAM is the perfect response to the Klingon Carrier.

Starfleet has always solved their problems with Diplomacy, Engeneering and science. Diplomacy can often be translated into raw firepower (it's a joke), and the Prommie is absolutely the peak of Starfleet Science and engeneering.

The ship makes use of a sofisticated AI for co-ordinating strikes as well as engeneering ability to split the ship into 3 seperate fully funtional independed warp capable ships .

So basically the FED's already have their response to Carriers.

Thats kinda my point... As a soldier myself, I don't consider armed conflict to be diplomacy... We (soldiers) go in as the last resort, or when there seems to be no useable alternative.

I know some use military power as Diplomacy... But it isn't...

It sometimes feels to me they do so because they don't have to go themselves...

Maybe... I can't speak for everyone, but for me it dosen't matter... I do it because I want to make a diffrence... not just for the western world but for all...

But I am affraid we are moving into political and ideologic discussions, wich essencially is not allowed here I belive...

I am however always open for a lively conversation in a chat, or unmanaged forums.

I was thinking more along the lines of what Heinlien wrote about the use of force in the book Starship Troopers.
