# 1 Surrender
05-13-2011, 03:18 PM
Hi guys just asking if it was possible to make the enemys of the Federation when your fighting them in space to quite...they know you have them beat so they just give up. You don't have to blow them up every time.give a drop.an warp out..an/or given the option to blow them up... If there dead in space an can't move there dead in space...would love the option...thanks very much for your time......GREYSHABA...OUT.

While I admit this probably wouldn't be a bad idea, in practice it would result in exactly the same thing. No enemy is going to surrender until he is down to bare hull and almost dead anyway, and it'll take as much time to call for surrender as it would to just simply finish him off.

Honestly, being as you can be completely blown up a thousand times and just click the "respawn" button to be right back where you started and unharmed, you can either assume that you really are surrendering, and it's just not being show that way, or that ships are either so indestructable or so disposable that it really doesn't cost you anything to make them blow their reactor cores anyway.

from a role playing perspective this makes a lot of sense, but there isnt any game mechanic to drive it, if you started injuring the crew that might work espicailly with DOFF's maybe they could "be killed" when the ship is "lost".. the ship injury system doesn't quite make it compelling enough

Sorry, it's part of the creed:
blah blah blah
"Seek out new life and new civilizations- and kill them."
blah blah blah
*key funky cool music*

See, it fits perfectly.

This could be interesting. Obviously only be viable in PVE but if they make it an ability such as "demand surrender" on a 2 or 3 minute cool down and work in a few other hidden variables like grade or level difference between the ships, the title of the Captain making the demand, the number of allied ships that have been destroyed or surrendered, the number of enemy ships that have been destroyed, with a bit of RNG to keep people guessing, and it can be an interesting addition to the game.

Add extra rewards for doing it, on the Klingon side you can 'plunder' the surrendered ships for a guaranteed loot drop and for the Federation side you can, I dunno, get a pat on the head, maybe 'requisition' or 'confiscate' a guaranteed loot drop?

Fed's shouldn't have any problem getting loot. They could "inspect" the ship and take/replicate anything worth. Klingons would rip the parts out of the ship, feds would scan it, study it, and adapt it for use on Federation starships.

mmm maybe as a Fed you dom't get Loot from the enemy ship if they surrender; but if you kill to often, after someone has surrendered you get some kind of penalty, perhaps a negative diplomatic XP, or a reduction in starfleet points/energy credits. And starfleet rewards you with a "drop" for upholding the ideals of the Federation if you accept his surrender.

There shoudld also be a "penalty for the surrendering ship", i think like not being able to particpate in PvP vs that factionfor some cool down period ?

A stacking reward for each faction then. The Klingon's can collect certain 'plunder only' commodities like 'bars of latinum' or 'piles of durtanium ore' and the Federation can accrue 'mercy points' forcing a ship to surrender. Then, when each faction is at their respective home base, they turn in these special 'surrender currencies' for a reward. The more surrender points you have, the better your reward.

I think what you mean to say is "I don't like this idea and it would not significantly improve my own personal game experience."
