It still seems to take a moment to recover the energy, but this could also be a good way to avoid suffering drain in the first place, or minimizing its effect (just switch between full stop and reverse.)
i will say i always switch between stop and reverse, if you do it quickly enough there is no drain and no reduction in speed. kinda defeats the purpose of the reverse powerdrain though
It takes just extended shields to make some escort semi-invulnerable. Extended shields III on my galaxy does 43% shield dmg reduction + shield heal. Thats better than even my own EpTS III.
But was it 5 ships agains one solo escort ? or was it in middle of arena and that escort in question had for example Era or any other good healer around ?
As someone who flies with Captain_Data on a daily basis, and routinely extends shields to him, I can attest that he knows, recognizes and appreciates someone being extended. that is not the scenario he is seeing--I am seeing it too because I'm usually in the same fight focusing the same guy.
The questionable escort is not getting numerous heals as those have visual cues (e.g. E-team's yellow symbol, aux to SIF's yellow disc cloud, hazard emitters' blueish soap-suds and if from somone else the line, the thin extend line, or the epts glow or the shield bulking of rotate shield frequency or transfer shield strengh, etc.). It's not huge amounts of shield and/or hull heals/resistances being added. It's just that focus fire seems to be substantially mitigated as though they were taking only 10% of the damage being put upon them. This all happening while they are at full stop. Sure, they could have deuterium/evasive maneuvers at full stop, but they can't do that all the time because of cooldowns; and even then the max defense should limit how much benefit it gives.
Something else is happening here. I just do not know what.
Then engineering escort...pretty tough little ships. Well any engineer captained ship is tough.
Not usually. What I have been seeing ae usually Tacticals. I'd recognize Rotate Shield Frequency if it were an engineer or Dampening Field if it were a Science officer, and I understand the survivability those provide. But, when a tac/defiant routinely turrets at a full stop with obviously high weapon power and 3 to 5 well spec'd ships focusing him can't scratch him ... It makes us curious how he can do that. We have fought most of the people in the OPVP channel at one time or another, so we know they can be damaged when focused. How these few can be unmoving turrets and not take much damage though is curious.
