So the new Engineering Report said we get a new map with Featured Series 4 and it's in design suggestions. I'll assume it's a space map and I hope we won't get a simple reskin. Because let's face it, the current maps basically offer the same gameplay and only differ in their looks. It's also pretty clear we won't get an entire new game mode, so let's discuss what we would like to see whats also doable - meaning the tech is already existing.

My idea was the following. Introduce some C&H elements into an Arena map. In particular, place stations/objects, that you can capture. If you capture them, they give you some sort of bonus/buff. Perhaps place some of these stations in our new nebula so that your shields aren't working inside. This could introduce some new tactical decisions where you could draw enemies into the nebula, because they need to recapture the station.

Please post your ideas.

Add in the Metreon gas pockets from the Briar Patch (close enough to actual be of value/danger) and the nebula interference from that one Romulan mission (see, that's how much I loathe PvE... I can't even remember the mission names from the most recent episode) so you can't really tell if they're a player or not for some added FAW/Scramble fun

I like your idea of combing C&H and Arena elements. We already have AoE tech (no full power to engine, disable shields) it shouldn't be to hard to design other effects and put them on maps (proximity based energy drain, limited maneuverability, etc)

I started another thread about weeklies. The basic ideas, maps with severe limitations to gear, equipment and skill points. Not sure about the latter, but the tech to disable abilities is in game.

How about a massive ship graveyard where you actually need to maneuver and keep line of sight on your target? I like the idea of dodging in and out of debris while exchanging fire. Makes it seem more PVP than just encircling each other with our pew pew.

The graveyard would really have to cover the entire map, otherwise, people just circle up to avoid the scenery. That's what is happening right now with the Arenas.

I suppose adding an element that forces you to stay inside the scenery would be good.
Maybe we just need a new Capture & Hold map? Or at least elements of CnH to make sure there is a reason to be inside the scenery.

I am also still very much in favor of my "convoy escort" map idea (one side escorts a bunch of freighters, the other tries to destroy and/or loot them).

Lets just add metreon gas pockets on top and lower part of that map, no axis climbing, or boom boom I'm evil I know.

That's quite a big assumption. I think we will get a second ground assault map, placed in that romulan city.

No shields, polarize hull to boost resists... Been there, done that, got ugly.

Hi all

One of my favourite ideas for a fun PvP which can work for space and ground matches is the following:
Have an area with about 30 randomly distributed samples (anomalous readings). The team which catches more than half of them first wins. Respawn point should be random as well. The area should be small in order to have all opponents and companions visible on the minimap and cloaking will not be a big advantage. I guess that could create nice long-lasting fights. Installing that doesn’t need much time at all.


However, generally I would like to see PvP much more integrated into the overall gameplay. That includes open PvP areas in the neutral zone fighting around a space station or planet in space and ground matches. These areas should be filled with NPCs which are already fighting each other and can attack respectively support the PCs. There, should be points which can be captured only by PCs. There should be a window/menu available which shows the progress of capturing and the number PCs in the area to all players outside in order to motivate further players to join the endless fight. PCs will be rewarded for capturing and destroying opponents. Establishing that would need of course some effort, but no development of stuff which is not already available.

Well the next series takes place at/around ds9.... my vote is on the badlands theme with plasma eddies and damaging tidal waves sweeping through the map at random times (will help the spam clearing lol) I just hope to them... new pvp map doesn't mean "new ground pvp map" which I have a sinking feeling does... :/

Yeah, It could well be a new ground map to come with the new ground combat.
