And then you need to purchase a Gorn or Orion ship from the C-Store as well.

I see this working. And being the blueprint for future "new" factions. Like the Cardassians and the Maquis.
Ow. Thinking about that makes my wallet hurt.

Heh. You are the second person to state that to me today. I'm on a roll!

@Jermbot: Yeah, but the maquis are still around, in some form or another. The badlands mission with Tom Riker's kid hints as much.

Eh, I don't see this happening, and if it did then the federation would need their own civil war, which wont happen.

Maybe if they ever add a third faction, you can RP as a member of the Orion or Gorn, and join that faction as a Alien, who happens to be an Orion or Gorn.

Showing the Empire integrate them in more completely would be a better idea, setting them up as near equal rights, and convert them into Lesser Houses of the Klingon Empire, as opposed to the great houses who have seats on the council, and Klingon houses full of history. There is precedence for other races being in Klingon houses at this point, Dax, and Quark were both in Klingon houses, and maybe, just maybe, you can count Jeremy Aster, but I don't count him, it was something Worf did to make the kid feel good. And members of the Empire don't need to be 100% Klingon, Worfs son is only 3/4 Klingon. For a long time, Klingons weren't even Klingon anymore, but genetically mutated to be partially human/Augment.

So, more fully integrating in races, could be something they could add to the game, perhaps an optional quest line a non-klingon can take, to join a Klingon house designed for non-Klingons. It would involve honorable choices in the mission, and failure is possible but may have its own rewards that you wouldn't get if you became a member of the house. Repeatable, but not for the full reward, just for the fun of the mission.

True Klingons get their own mission, with its own rewards, but not the same mission, possibly to further whatever house the Klingon is within. Similar reward structure.

Neat idea and I dig your crazy optimism. But what you're basically talking about is a second independent mission chain when the KDF doesn't yet have a first one.

I believe i have a possible solution, rather than make them a seperate faction, make them a sub-faction. the orions should have a separate home world, tutorial and even some specific missions. same with the nausicans. Even in the current political state orions and nausicans are not KDF, they are allies of the KDF and as such would have different training, missions and goals. also Species specific ships and gear should be available but only at the species home world and for a unique species currency(orion credits, nausican loot etc) letheans make to small of a portion of the KDF faction both in game and in Cannon to be worth putting in all these things. Aliens as much as i would like to give them full access to it should not gain it, but rather should be given a few new things to give them more leverage in gameplay such as items, new traits...

the federation should not get this for one reason, the federation is a single entity, not an alliance. if you are vulcan, you are a fed and go to starfleet academy, same with all the federation species.

My feeling is that this is a nice idea, but would take forever to implement. It would in the idea of Fed players seriously cause them to be the lesser side, and they will of course have none of that....yup....none of that.

unfortunately you are right, while it would make the KDF a super awesome faction almost on par with the federation in the amount of content, the feds would not be able to wait 6-9 months for without getting some random TOS episode nonsense so the devs could make 10 maps, 8 missions and 10 items for the KDF

2 homeworlds(like the current Quo'nos)
2 space orbits for the home worlds
5 missions for naucicans and 5 for orions
10 or so unique items

Hek if the feds cant wait 6-9 months while the KDF gets fully flushed out i think that it might be a problem, flushing out the KDF benefits them too.

Aye, this is not the reason I am against it though...it just does not seem like it would be something that at the present would be in the KDF's best interest...easing of tensions...sure..a little...not all-out combat?...maybe... let's call it detente...lol

Yeah. Great Idea. Hilarious. Lets take our underdeveloped contentless faction was almost no players and spilt them into 2 half factions with even less Content and less players.
Why not giving every player an own faction?

And just a note: The Marquis was extinguished with Dominion-efficiency. So if Cryptic doesnt turn that into a Horror MMO and creates a Zombie-faction there wont be any Marquis in this game.
