O cmon, the ground system isnt that bad, its just as easy as to tab to your next target rather then hover over and have a glitch happen cause someones gpu isnt fast enough to render it. And it also just as easy to click on a teammates face to heal them then, again, glitch hover. The only real tuning needed is the dps boosted to some weapons, and yes, it would be nice to build your own kit, THATS what should be the "overhaul". You already have an over the shoulder look with the ddam "c" button and zoomed in...

Cryptic dosn't have it wrong with the way things are done on the ground, ppl have had two years to get used to it, and guess what , it works!

The new duty roster system looks good for adding more to the "life of a captain" aspect, I just hope it dosen't take away from the current BO set up and powers, because I dont think and 500 day plus vet's will look forward to having to rebuild all their officers. That would be a mistake for anyone thats hoping to keep a job with the STO line in my opinion.

Alas, for space combat. Where is a good ship that has 1 class specific commander slot, with a lt. commander slot for another class. For instance, a commander tactical + l with a lt. commander sci and a lt. commander engineer with and two lt slots? That would be good for, say an above VA level captian? Add in carriers and the typhoon battleship, and I think you would make the early trolls of STO a bit happy with paying so much into ships that barley cut it to satisfy ones thirst for pure power and the thrill of finally managing to make a good kill. (HARD for having a non good mixed ship....Wheres a dam good sci escort that can also have a sci slot that allows for photonic shock wave and gravity well? Or a well suited engineer with RSP 2? Yea not cutting it really. Not even the Sovie had a solid lt. commander slot, (wth guys?)
Just my thought, and dont give me the "o someone would of been overpowered...MY ASS, at this point, the only ones that get even a remote chance in pvp is if they are on the latest crazied buffed power...(O btw, nice to see Polorn gets its attribute working finally...)

Alas...as for the cutting of said suits in power, i fear for the game. I like it enough to keep playing and really dont want to see it hit the dusty old shelf along my Starseige (the mech game from 1997? which is still played by some very dedicated die hards who have spent there own money to keep a server up and running and who have made their own mods to keep it alive. No STO is a big name game, and ppl are playing it if no one's noticed. I know big wigs at Ateri, who just like dan stahls "gold mining ass", would considering shelving STO if it doesn't stop its leakage in fundage.

It's all a bit worrisome to be honest. I love the game (mostly where it seems to be going BTW). I'm also a lifer, who planned to play for years AS it develops!

I've seen it said MANY times that ground needed work. To this I can not argue. I find ground missions cumbersome and I'M always in MY way. Not even mentioning the small ground areas, lacking any "other" purpose for ever being there then the one mission. (although I've done well to overcome the way it now is).

I think most of us are worried about the state of the game, and it's "ownership" or continuation. Personally I plan to play until it ends. Be that next week or twenty+ years down the line.

The real question comes down to,. Will it be here to play?

I payed for the lifetime membership, the day of release. Although I've not spent much in the C-store, I'd like to. However I am not wealthy. Thus, this news that Cryptic is changing hands?, or is being dropped? doesn't make a lot of sense to us players. We've all seen it said NOT to worry, all is going as planned. However that too doesn't make sense to us.

As a child I LOVED my Atari 2600. I REALLY wish I still had that E.T. game I got for Christmas. That said Atari has NOT impressed me after puberty until STO. (We all know it's not the same group BTW).

So, What now?? Do I throw myself into the game (meaning RE-play it all again). Spend my real money on a new ship and some uniforms I MAY or MAY NOT actually get to use soon??

My point is WHAT is actually going on?? Has someone bought Cryptic, are there any offers? One article mentioned Blizzard (which wouldn't bother me at all). I'd rather KNOW then not.

I doubt many others would feel otherwise.

I should also point out that I have friends who have been waiting for STO to "develop". They read what is (or isn't) going on with the game. I'm often taunted by people for my "still" playing STO due to the lack of content. However I KNOW they all want it to become a good game. They are simply immersed in "their" games with years of content already added. Where as I'm trying to support a different game then D+D! They want it too. They are simply waiting for that big leap in "fun". Even I can admit, it's lame I skipped MONTHS of play to find one unplayed "series" I hadn't done yet. I'd guess that a little more added, plus a few "improvments" I've seen mentioned already. Then my collection of "guest" passes will be gone ASAP!

Lets hope we hear good news SOON! (although ANY news would be comforting if it's more then "don't worry it's OK!)

As much as I'm glad to see the new style of ground combat, I'm going to reserve judgement on it until I get to play it. The current ground system is bugged pretty badly but it could of worked if Cryptic had taken the time to fix it. If we still have Swordmasters that can take down a player in a couple of swipes (less than 5 seconds) regardless of their armor and such. It's going to be just as big of a failure as the current system is. Lets hope there's something int he works also to fix the slow response of things like doors. By the time the door opens, I've almost always passed through it well before it does. Using double doors isn't a good method to lock certain doors in missions either becausee the door still shows after it's unlocked. So... I'll say it again in another way. there are too many little bugs with the ground system as it is that ruin it as a whole. Lets hope the new ground system doesn't carry on the same trend.

Um the revamp is the fix. They're not gutting the oldstyle MMO 'Tab to Target' system, they're adding a new more FPS style system on top of it and allowing the player to change between the two. But overall, the revamp IS a fix of the complaints of players regarding the current system (including teh enemy NPCs.) I'm sure it'll need some tweaking too (that's what Tribble testing is for); and like you, I'll try it before passing and judgement on it - but, from what I've read so far, it seems like a very positive step in the right direction for STO ground combat.
