# 1 Frustration; pvp...
05-23-2011, 12:26 PM
The current pvp is just frustration for me I've stopped 3times and come back I've played in premier pvp fleets for along while and frankly pvp needs random arenas I figure out this by pugging alot sence I came back I don't want to play with my fellow tsi/sw/dob/whatever fleet they are in/on out ventrilo server. I've played with many players who play in sto Im not the best player and frankly I dont aspire to be the best anymore. I wanna login play a game and have an "equal" chance of getting a "good" team you know a team where all 5 players are actually fighting.. and not be playing RandomCoolPVP fleet with 4cruisers with faw.

Back when sto was new pvp fleets was something d.o.b and coffee crew did and I didn't care I pugged all day and ran into them once per day and okay that sucks im gonna die, after all im just one escort players with limited heals and ppl back then healed less their fellow "team" members then now. Now thise "pvp fleets" que up for everything never fight other "Pvp fleets" hey they can loose right and if the other team uses polaron turrets and transphasic mines we warp out..

I don't know thise pvp fleets dont loose play ultra boring setups with cruisers and btw there is something wrong with (extend shields + tactical team) because they have like permanent rsp. My problem isn't actually or mayb it is that i loose vs thise fleets its just that they dont strive to beat other fleets they just que up to beat pugs.

And surely tsi have beaten many pugs, and after awhile it gets totaly boring, who wanna beat up players who dont even balance their shields?

Anyhow my suggestion is simple, Make "random arenas" so I can que up get 4ppl who want to fight vs 5 other ppl who want to fight. Where your only allowed to que by yourself.

But keep team vs team arenas too.

Not a bad idea. Why not have a pug que.
Of course as you know there is no pop anymore. However I could see the que being 100% random... Meaning teams have to get games through Challange mode. Could be fun, can't see Cryptic ever doing it though.

Holy Flash Back Batman. Glad to see you back Z. I agree 95% of the fleets in this game are PvE/RP fleets of the 5% that are PvP I bet 90% of them are like LF/SoS which is a PuG fleet when it comes to PvP, PuGging with in their own fleet or are partial premade. There is only one fleet in this game so far I refuse to fight and will warp out 9 times out of 10. I agree last year at this time pugging got you somewheremaybe 6 losses out of 10 matches but hey that is close to 50/50. now it is pretty much a given a Pug is going to get rolled by any sembelance of teamwork from the other side.

Seperate premade and pug queues is something I've been championing for awhile, as well as combining FvK, FvK, and KvK into one queue. Also more 4v4, 3v3, 2v2 pops (with lower kill requirements, think 12, 9, 6) and a simple ranking system that tries to create even matches, avoids pitting the same two teams against each other multiple times if one wiped the other out 15-0, and scales rewards based on which team has the better ranking. The balance is one part, the infrastructure is equally important, and often overlooked.

You have been in pvp fleets long enough to know that "premade queues" for full teams won't work because there aren't any fleets left. The same goes for "play more challenge matches"; asking whether other premades are on is almost always met with silence.

Of course, you are not asking for premade queues, you want pug queues. But the result is the same - the death of pre-teamed pvp outside of once-per-month challenge matches. And I'm not just talking about full premades, but also about 2-3 teamed players queueing together.

I prefer playing against incompetent players over having them on my team. When it is unbalanced in my favour it is simply boring, but when my own team mates are incapable of balancing their shields, it is frustrating.

I am absolutely certain that single player arenas would kill teamed pvp. is there any reason to be less pessimistic than I am?

Cryptic needs to balance powers some more ... more towards team play. That way each and everyone will suck without another and widen the organized team - pug team gap.

Hmm.. Making soloplay in regular ques mandatory?

Ive thought about this before, It might work, it might not.. I can see problems with it though:

Some fleets might have some players leave and rejoin matches until they get on the same team. (Leaving player: "I refuse to fight my own fleetmembers")

Some people will still be newbies that wont rebalance their shields, and you still risk facing a bunch of lolFAW players. (After all, you *do* get free emblems from playing 3 daily matches, there is no reason for them to better themselves, they dont want to compete, they merely want their emblems.)

I would not be against trying it though.. But I think there needs to be safeguards against the above (and possibly additional situations)

As long as winners, losers and leechers get the *exact* same reward (emblems, obviously noone cares about merits, BO XP or ECs) Youll have bad apples in the games.

Because they HAVE the option to roflstomp PUGs, if they had no option but to play challengematches, Id think more fleets would.

Maybe, maybe not.. PvP cant really get much worse at this point, can it?

Exactly my opinion too.. i also like to play together with my friends instead of hoping they'd may end up on my side by random luck once every full moon. The whole point of playing mmo's for me is playing together with those people that i like; for everything else theres better single player games.
