There are other ways to earn emblems other than the 6 you are talking about. You can do Breen dailies. There are also the Eti Eridani missions. There's also the foundry dailies. Probably best if you just forget about PVP as rewarding emblems. If they changed it, and gave a different reward for PVP, you are no worse off. It really just boils down to choice as is with many other things. Want the borg gear?... you're just gonna have to run the STFs. Want the cross-faction BO?... you're just gonna have to do those diplo missions. You want those EXTRA 3 emblems?... just do the PVP.

Or, just go without (which is what I do when it comes to PVP). It's a choice.

First off, you're NOT being forced to PvP. There are plenty of ways to earn these "coveted" emblems. You have the exploration (B'Tran) dailies, the Breen dailies, the daily in the Neutral Zone, the Foundry wrapper mission, and PvP to choose from. If you don't like PvP, then DON'T DO IT! It's that simple. Sure, you lose out on a couple emblems, but at least you're not pulling your hair out.

Yeah, my teammates were dutifullly plinking away at the cruisers doing....NOTHING.

We snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.
Yeah its never a good day when you have the guy that rushes off by himself or the one that would rather fly around in the planets core instead of stick together haha. I to am far from good at pvp so i know im not the greatest person to get stuck with but I try. Ive had ppl join get blown up once and then warp out. For me its not always the opposing side thats the challenge lol.

Pvp is its own playstyle and really i think games should treat it as such. Honestly Pvp almost needs its own server with its own set of rules to be well rounded and dont think any company is willing to put that much investment into it which causes pvp to fail at least for me in almost every game ive played.

I "endure" PvE just to get my emblems.

But if I didn't like it, I wouldn't do it at all.

That's just me though.

I did. I don't anymore.

The only reason I'd do PvP would be for the accolades. But I'm so low in their progression that it's simply not worth the bother. STO simply doesn't have the environment to promote healthy PvPing in the universe.

Once actual meaningful in-universe goals become established and that either communities become more tilted toward pursuing them, then I might.

I also believe, once territory control becomes implemented, that one of the best things to do for the health of the game's PvP is to allow certain PvP-achieved rewards to be tied to account and not characters - with parts of it achievable only via one faction and the other... so that you wouldn't have the entire package if you did not play the other side. From there, a PvP store could be implemented in which the earning you'd accrue could be earned by any character in your account.

Sure, it'd likely force pro-KDF players to invest more in fighting as a Fed captain... but as I see it it'd also provide motivation for Fed characters to create KDF ones - the benefits of that given current community demographics would be significantly greater for the KDF side.

Fixing PvP would be a great benefit to the game. So far nothing has been done by cryptic to enhance it, they seem to have forgotten that if the game is fun to play more people will play. I don't know of anyone who subscibes to the game to buy cstore stuff.

Am I the only one who is tired of devs forcing PvP upon us? Yes, I know technically it's not forced, but it's 3/6 emblems a day I give up if I don't do it. Why is it they give a reward for PvP that's useful to PvE?

This is a message I've always tried to tell game devs.

Those of us who don't like PvP are not going to like it if we just try your version of it.

Forcing us into it is just going to give you more AFKers and "bads" who aren't really interested in it and are just going through the motions to get our 3 emblems.
How are emblems needed for PVE?

PVE is already too easy, why (if pve is your thing) would you want to make it even easier?

Too bad, PvPing teaches you more about the game mechanics in a day than 6 months of repetitive LoL PvE missions.

Also, I'm curious too. What do you need emblems for? STO is one of the less gear-dependent games. I never had the need for anything more than Green Uncommon gear to ROTFStomp PvE when capping my 6 alts.

I also succesfully completed all STFs many times having 0 skillpoints in ground, with mkX blue armor/shields (Exchange/crafting) and MkX purple weapons (BGO - Marks of Exploration -> B'tran normal).

I see the

"LOL PvE requires no skillzzzz"

and

"PvE is easy you don't need endgame gear"

crowd has arrived....give you a hint....your attitudes are another reason I stay away from PvP as much as possible.
