Better yet, why not just read the thread that's stickied at the top of this forum that has the entire Foundry EULA spelled out, as well as quotes to every post that StormShade and WishStone have made about the Foundry Rules:

The Foundry - End User License Agreement

See, in that thread you'll find StormShade's post: "I've been informed that we're not allowing the appearance of characters from the shows in The Foundry. Likeness/copyright issues make this very difficult to allow, and we need to go with the, "Reference is ok, physical appearance is not ok," in order to comply with the rules we're being given."

Which means the answer to most of your questions is "NO." You can't show Picard even if you don't call him that. You can't show Ambassador Spock even if you don't call him that. No physical appearance means no physical appearance.

However, if you were to show a young man named John Jellico, who's obviously not Captain Jellico from the TV show, then that would be fine. You can also recreate your own Star Trek episodes, it says so right on the Foundry page. So if you want to re-create your favorite Star Trek episode you can, you just cannot use any of the characters that have ever made an appearance in any of the episodes and movies.

Why is it that no one ever reads the stickied threads?

My question is, why do you need these characters at all? Regardless I have a belief(it might be incorrect) that for example the starship Enterprise falls under "You may not use copyrighted content from the Properties" Now it is possible to obliquely reference things without depicting them. But there aren't that many grey lines when it comes to people certainly that have appeared in CBS/Paramount licensed things.

Shadow? You need to give up on this struggle. You need to write original material with original characters.

Our response to this matter has been given in your least thread regarding this issue here.

If someone else touched it before you, then you should not tinker with it. As for "Everything has been done" - Please see the Lit Challenges in 10 Forward. Users are being very creative with telling their own stories. I am sure you can be creative as well and tell us your own stories, without borrowing or even directly taking from anyone else.

Thank you for respecting the TOS in this regard.

Quick Edit:

This goes actually against the TOS. If you rebuild an episode, you would rebuild copyrighted material. Thank you for pointing this out, I'll make sure it is addressed.
The video and page both say "Build your Own" in several places and if indeed it says somewhere "Go on and rebuild an episode", I'll have someone strike that.
