Because I think its pretty obvious for everyone that the current system is very limited and has very little variation in the current selection of (every) ship tier (Aka all Vice admirals fly about the same ships). In my humble opinion they should scrape the whole Tier system or just make any ship available for any tier and just scale the bridge officer slots / consoles / Weapon slots, etcetera.

Even better, make all ships costumizable with all parts from all ships,(Interchanging partS) so we could finally make 'real' individual ships. (Without diverging too much from the original rules of Startrek ships)

(A little like how they made the character stuff so customizable.)

As far as Klingon's getting new ships, sorry guys but its common knowledge that the empire doesn't do massive overhauls on their ship designs. The ships they use now serve the purpose that they need them for, whooping some @$$. I recently made a klingon tact officer and was pwning the feds in the space warzone.

I cannot emphasise how much there must be a T5 Akira, Its horribly misplaced as is as a T3.
The Akira is both newer and more powerful than the T4 & T5 retrofit that is the Defiant.
And it is definitely vastly more powerful than a puny Excelsior Class starship.

But most of all, the Akira is Cryptic's flagship.
It proudly adorns the cover of the the Gold Edition of STO.
