By definition, any restrictions will make some people unhappy (and who gets to choose?), which will lead to fewer customers and less money coming in (which is, IMO, much more important to the businesses involved than any notions of "canon purity").

We're not talking about canon purity. The game lacks coherence in substance and direction. The games canon makes no sense, thats the gripe.

I liked the status. Just think it is a bit nerfed. All T5 have 5 BOff stations. So I would turn the universal lt. in a tatical lt. and add a universal ensign. Also, the MVAM has a crew of 150. So I think the Akira, being a sort of mini-carrier, sholud have at least a crew of 150. Perhaps a bit more, like 165, or so. But these is details that wolud need testing to see what fit's better. Same with hull. Defiant and MVAM has 30000. So Akira should have at least 30000 also. And a total of 3 aft weapon slot, as the other escorts. But overall, looks a good stats. And I like the idea of Akira being a like carrier. Just need another type of fighter. It would be odd a fed ship be equiped with romulan fighters. I agree runabouts and peregrines would be too large for the akira to carrie. So a good option would be a reinforced shutlle pod. A new type of shuttle pod developed by starfleet and that is being first tested on these new Akira (the net result would be the same of the romulan scorpion, but with a diferent skin, so things would be beliavable).

About the discution of the upgrades of the ship, well. reading the post I made my mind that would be ok having T1 ships upgrade to T5. Perhaps just adding more Boff station to it, as someone said (too lazy to make a quote here ). So those who wants to do PvE in T1 ships would be able to do it. But the upgraded T1 ship would yet be worst than a T5 ship. For me sounds something like: a player ship is a ship heavily upgraded, to the point it would have the same firepower than standard T5 ship, that is used by NPC. But ships that were originally T5, was modificated by the player to become better yet, so in a PvP battle between the two ships, the T5 ship would have an advantage (not that T5 would necessarily win, but the upgraded T1 would have a hard time).

Id honestly prefer the akira to remain a non carrier, and find something else to shoehorn into being the fed carrier if people are so set on it.

There's really no reason to take the akira refit idea and try to turn it into a mini carrier.

I personally don't like the idea of it being a full-blown-carrier, but giving it the ability to spawn some fighters is actually pretty good, as long as it doesn't have spots for actual fighters, I'm game.

Its designer wanted it to be a carrier when he made the model for First Contact. But at the same time he threw in way too many torpedo tubes.

Now making it a carrier makes no sense for this game. While any ship can more or less be a carrier for the scorpion fighters, the Akira should not be a full carrier. It may be intended by its movie designer to do it, but not here.

I'm okay though with the idea of it launching a max of 5 Perigrine fighters every now and again, but not to the level of the KE's dedicated carrier. Maybe 5 fighters every 3 minutes? Seem fair enough?

Alternatively it could get a rapid fire torpedo to better fit what its seen doing on-screen (Shooting torps and beam arrays both)

Damn, no more trash NPCs flying around, especially in pvp. There is enough crap out of there flying already to clutter whole screen.
