So... we get a runabout-sized interior view in a shuttle a fraction of the size.

And then, on the ground, the shuttle model is ludicrously small compared to the PCs.

I thought you guys were trying to fix the Alice-in-Wonderland scaling issues?

Oh, and also, boring cutscenes are boring. The shuttle's flight path leaving Vulcan is actively cringeworthy, too.

LOL, I brought that up on the Tribble Forum and Gozer got all huffy and saying there never will be a Type 8 Shuttle interior. Even though some suggested switching out the Type 8 with a Runabout. :p

Personally, that Shuttle scene would've been best as a in-game cutscene, where you have the players sitting in seats (in front of the camera) and you see out the window, all while the dialogue is occuring.

seeing as most avatars are taller than the shuttle, there will never be a realistic shuttle interior. so the new type 8's were refited by the temporal agency to be bigger on the inside

That's easier when they're not throwing horrible graphical absurdity in my face.

I didn't get "huffy" I just answered your question. I said "There will never be a Type 8 Shuttle Interior that players (you) would be happy with. We won't make an art asset (that you can use in missions) that you can't fit 5 players in.

As far as the cut scene goes... There is no way I could make that particular sequence as "just a cut scene" it's not the way our engine works. I have to transfer you to the map first and turn you invisible, that means I have to put you someplace first so I can hide you while I move the cameras around.

Originally I had you starting out in a shuttle bay and playing the landing sequence there, then we made a shuttle interior so I put you in that instead because it was cooler. Everything else was made for the original Bay - Ground scene.

I didn't have time to go back and have a "special" cut scene runabout made to use it instead of the type 8. Not to mention that even if I had it would have caused people to nitpick that as well. Instead of "The interior is big threads" we would have "but my ship doesn't have a runabout" thread..

My point here Azurian, is that blanket statements about "how easy" something might be to change are generally way off from the actual truth. If it were "easy" I would do it.. end of story... However most things are not easy...

So do me a favor Please stop telling me how "easy" something might be for me to do, because you really don't have any information or experience with our tools to make that assumption.

If I wanted to use my imagination, I wouldn't be spending $15 a month on a gorgeous-looking game.

And Goz, I know a lot of sound sound unappreciative of your hard work. I don't think there's anyone here who doesn't appreciate what you do. I guess people get the idea that things are easy because you make them look easy. And we're all passionate players -- so yes, people are going to nitpick no matter what choices you make. But also in those nitpicks, there are nuggets of honest criticism and feedback. At the end of the day, we're not trying to tell you what to do, or pretend to know how your job works. We, the players, are usually given only the final product, with nary an inkling of how it was created, or what tricks and fancy behind-the-scenes scripting goes on. For us, we look at the final picture and say things like, "Wow, the shuttle interior -- while very cool -- doesn't at all match the shuttle we're flying in".

No matter how difficult the job is, the final product is still the final product. And the size disparity and layout between the shuttle interior and the Type 8 shuttle model are kind of comical. :/
