What are my options as a science officer in an escort?
I had hoped to use her in a multi-vector Prometheus.

Any Ideas on build suggestions or is this not worth pursuer?

A lot of people use PSW as their LtC Sci slot. Personally, I'd go for either SciTeam 1/TSS 2/Hazard 3 or SciTeam 1/Hazard 2/TSS 3. A dead Escort isn't going to be killing anyone But I always overbuild towards survivability, so take that with a grain of salt.
Yea I run cannons/turrets on my Def-R so I was toying with a different idea with the beams on my sci. I was figuring with a LC "push" kind of ability that I would be spending a lot more time beyond 4km so those forward beams would really start to even things up over cannons.

I get your point about survivability, but that LC slot is just too tempting without an offensive skill. The engi slots and the 2 lower sci slots are all defensive so I don't think I'm short changing myself on healing.

Not to hijack but making another thread about what I am about to ask would be redundant.

I have been playing tac since beta so I am new to the sci capt. I am also a sci in a cannon/torp escort and I am trying to perfect the alpha from either a defiant or raptor for my sci all tips are appreciated. I am looking more the order of skills. I know that you save SNB for the enemy buff up string or the green diaper but beyond that I am a noob at this part. And I am just trying to cut down on the learning curve.

Thanks for all the great input. I am working on that Science Captain and I think I will put her in a Multi Vector ship. I like the idea of holding a lot of tricks for my potential playmates (enemies :} ). I cant wait to get to this ship. Thanks all for the suggestions. Thanks again.

Sci/MVAM is a great combo. You won't have the spike of a Tac/Defiant or anything, but you'll have lots of tricks up your sleeve.

i think sci in esc can make a good dps-supporter.

while you sciship only has access to target system 1 ranks, you can focus your build around at least one or even 2 target system rank 3 abilities and specc into sensors, sen array and use a tachyon array.

i would choose target engines3 (making an enemy unable to turn grants much hit andor crit on the enemy) and shields 3.( opening hull dmg windows). you could also go for target weapons3, to reduce dmg income significally. traget aux3 is wasted, cause most aux abilities work wiith the amount of aux when activated, draining aux energy afterwards is nearly pointless.

to to this you should have at least one beamtype weapon fore and aft.

in addition you can use energy syphon2 in the mvam 3rd rank sciability.

Dual Beam Banks in an Escort work fine, but you're really missing out on the best part and biggest advantage of Escorts if you don't use Dual (Heavy) Cannons.

I think its actually a great mix if you are using the Multi Vector Prometheus. I've actually been playing around with it with my science and I had found I really loved it.

If you have been speced for a science ship, you will find that you lost some science bo spots, but your science bo spot you have up to lt commander which you can use a III skill if you can find it. You though will now have more room for a tact officers.

In the end, I really loved it.
