The obvious weakness of this build is lack of spikes.
Must be bad luck...I have also met her in battle, and while the polaron sound and procs were annoying, it was barely noticeable. On the other hand I have very bad luck with phaser procs, seems they really like me.
But well at least it was not another FAW spamming excelsior
It would be a great build for STF, with (borg) weapons. The amount of (borg) procs would really make difference. Considering my 3 turrets on nebula do considerable dmg with rapid fire I on borgs.
Well.. I made it because I refuse to (ab)use FAW, a handicapped monkey could throw 2x FAW and Beta on a Cruiser and rock.
It isnt supereffective in 1v1 combat, and certainly not in the 1v3+ Kerrat I was doing yesterday when bugged.
While its true it isnt a real spike, a CRF/DEM/Alpha/Beta/FoMM cycle can pour out significant damage.. Its more of a constant DPS build, and it really shines when flying in a team.. The many MANY cannon hits makes sure that once shields are down, they mostly stay down, making it easy for allies to punch in HYT Quantums, as well and providing constant DPS on the target..
As for PvE, this thing rips through it almost as fast as escorts.. 3 Kerrat cubes in less than a minute, when I get the Plasma HYTs picked off.
Gave this a try and really enjoyed it. The single cannons up front really seemed to do the job. And that was without respec and with green items and no consoles. Very fun.
The best part is the sound of 4 cannons and 4 turrets ripping away with CRF
Quick question, I thought the highest Mark weapon was XI.
Where do you get Mark XII's?
Thanks in advance
It's supposed to be Mk XI, but the Devs more or less mistakenly released Mk XII. Mk XII equipment can be acquired via the Exchange or getting it yourself in Ker'Rat. Expect to pay exorbitant prices on the Exchange if you're looking for the higher end gear.

Ahh, that makes sense. Looks like I'll be sticking to my Mark XI's for a while, which is OK, since I don't PVP much.
I have been running a build like this for a few months now with Polaron Canon's in front and turrets in the back. Maybe a mine or a torp here and there depending on what I am trying to blow up.
With 8 weapons on target for 180° in a ship that can turn, it is fun. Broadside after broadside in a beam cruiser just get boring after a while.
Rapid fire 1+2 plus DEM 2+3, can really tear through hull and shields.
So I know that a cannon build like this won't have the spike DPS that an escort will, but I have a proc question.
Since the procs are likely to happen much more often with rapid fire turrets, what would the best kind of energy weapon to use?
In a team, phasers are probably a good bet due to the disable subsystem proc. Disruptors are a "good in general" type weapon due to the debuff.
When they fix tetryon and polaron procs, they'll be formidable too...but what about antiproton? If you run an antiproton turret ship, won't you get a whole bunch of crits? And that's really good, considering you're going for DPS, right?
Various testing have shown that the hidden cap for weapons is 135.. I havent really tested the numbers, but plan to do so
From what I understand, someone tested on this forum and confirmed that the weapon energy cap has been capped at 125. I'll see if I can dredge up the thread for you.
I had no Idea the excelsior would take cannons! I own it from c-store. I'm such a dope! I am so excited now! I want to leave work early and go build it.
All ships can load up on (single) Cannons. Dual and Dual Heavy Cannons can only be mounted on Escorts and Klingon ships.
