You just have to cloack, uncloack and use your cds+tractor beam without any gcd then hit phaser lance and enjoy the boom...

No, sorry, you shouldn't be able to do this in a MMO, perhaps rise the accuracy to 100% and half the damages but actually it's too frustrating.
It happens much like tricobalt crit, BO crit or HYT crit. You were in vulnerable position and I exploited it. Simply having hardened shields up will soak most (if not all) dmg usually.

But were is the difference to doing this with a cloaked/MESed Escort/Raptor/BoP and Beam Overload III? It's called alpha strike and it's a valid tactic, not magic or "unfair". The cloaked alpha provides probably the only good chance for the Gal-X to use it's lance for sure (if it is not a miss), after that the pathetic turn rate makes it difficult.

To the original question: You might want to get rid of your believe that there is a "best" ship. Many people ask these "what is best" questions and it is not funny anymore. The best ship for your tactical is the one you feel comfortable with. Try the escorts if you like escort playstyle, all of them have different stats and abilities to some amount. If you are not into escorts, try some cruisers or even sci ship and see if they fit you.

Well I understand him sort of, I happened to one shot him twice yesterday :p But it was only once from cloak. The point is, he doesn't know how difficult it is to "prepare" your alpha in Galaxy-X. Its not a BoP you manoeuvre to precise spot in matter of seconds.

Only people who understand this, are those using DHCs on both BoP and Galaxy-X. My Tac Bop can make even better Alpha and still live to say the tale. My Gal-X usually blows up after I miss my alpha chance.

Congratulations for sniping him

I never used the Gal-X but I know the turn rate of the nonseparated Gal-R and yes, to get in a good position in a fast paced PvP match can be a nightmare sometimes. It needs maneuvering skills and sometimes just plain luck.

I was complaining about it because i've never been os by someone else and i can tank most escorts.
About the turnrate, you should try aux to dampeners, it helps a lot.

A 40k Bo3 strike does. I bask in the warm rays from their warp cores.

Wrong, BO3 fully buffed on a DBB can be monstrous.

I've "one shotted" (technically one volley) an unprepared Cruiser into dust. On my Defiant R that attack comes from cloak, and a proper cloak too with the attack bonus.

Almost without fail, any ship not already hardened or who doesn't get on his heals quick is toast.

@OP

There is no such thing IMO.

I used the fleet escort a lot but currently favour the Defiant-R. For PvP the cloak is just OH so useful. The only "best" is what is best for YOU.

I would highly recommend trying them all out. But for a quick comparison of ships, check this:

http://www.spidermitch.com/STO/Spide...DShipChart.jpg

If I had to give a quick summary of how I view the ships it would be:

Fleet escort: Best survivor - not the biggest opening strike but can hang about long enough to do consistent high level damage

Defiant-R: Best Alpha strike - Not the best survivor, but a strong opener can have your enemy dead before they can respond

MVAM: Best crowd control - Looses some direct offence but being able to control your enemy so they cannot move/respond is invaluable

The difference in the feeling is the sense of achievement, its very hard to actually land the lance and oneshot someone :p

Yeah but it's very rare to see a 40k crit from a BOIII as well in pvp. I got nailed with an alpha BO III the other day and for like 39.5k. Was happy for the guy who did it. I don't know him personally but I was saying on TS I bet he's grinning after that one, I know would be! :p

Oh I always feel pretty good with myself if I pull it off. It is hard to get BO3 above 25k without good timing on your buffs, proper positioning, and a consideration of the targets defence rating and their running buffs. Also , escorts can be quite tricky to hit, the "miss" floaters have definitely increased since Aegis came about. So yes, I was very chuffed when I got my highest crit of about 39k recently, though I doubt my opponent was It is a great feeling.
