I don't see that anyone has actually posted this question so here it is.
I am tac Lt. and am 4 bars from being tac Lt Com. I want to know which is better? A cruiser or an escort? I under stand there are differances in the ships this I know, but I want to know from my star fleet brothers who have already made there choice on this matter...was is the better way to go
Strictly from a leveling up standpoint, it seems easier to do so in an escort. The nice thing about the whole process is that it is easy to try multiple ships. My main character has 4 escorts, 2 cruisers and a science ship. I did a lot of experimenting when I reached RA.
Thank you for all the input. Now the next part of my question...phasers or disrupters? I rescently distoryed two Klingon bird of pray ships and now have a a few mark one and mark two disrupters. I also have a mark three phaser array, two mark two phaser arrays, a mark one phaser, a dual mark two phaser. And two different torpedos. I think I'm going to go escort and em sure there will be some sweet weapons. Still there is the question of phaser vs. disrupters
Depends on what you want sir. Ready the proc's carefully and see which one you like better. I can't remember the disruptor off head but the phasers is chance to knock entire subsystem off line. Both cost the same to skill into.
Cruisers will be slow leveling up. If you want to take your time and enjoy it go this way. Escorts make leveling extremely fast as you can pop targets quicker but your fragile and may die more. There is no right or wrong when it comes to PvE. Someone else mentioned a cruiser out DPS'ing an escort. They were talking PvP as that doesn't really pertain to PvE. Level this toon how you want and then on your next toon level it differently. I have 2 tacs in escorts 1 tac in a cruiser 2 eng in a cruiser and 1 sci in a sci ship. Its all about how you want to try and play.
Hello. The link gives you a graphical breakdown of all the ships available to the Federation, hull, consoles, etc. On the far right hand side it also provides you with a breakdown of the different weapon types. The only thing I recommend is going wtih one energy type - all phasers for example. This will ensure that your energy drain is greatly reduced.
