It amazes me that Voyager 1 and 2 are still functional after all this time in space....

That's some seriously reliable hardware man....

Yep, and still sending back ground-breaking data. It's one hell of a first leg to their journey too, 30 years all the way to the edge of the solar system. I wonder how far they'll go.

And people bash nuclear power.... I'd say this is a good advert for it.

People are afraid of nuke power because of the while "Reactor Go Boom" thing....

Which statistically it doesn't happen that often, and a chain of events has to happen before they blow up...namely multiple failures in the safeguards, which are numerous....or a big arse earthquake....heheh

The key to its durability is its simplicity. The integrated circuit was not around when this guy went into space.

Awesome. That's some durable equipment. Now we just have to wait for it to come back to us as an advanced life form.

We ought to send at least 4 more of those Voyager probes with some of our newer technology. The first two are quite amazingly reliable but imagine what they could have missed due to older tech.

Yeah, I hate that 1 event could start a wave of hysteria......hell even in Star Trek it was noted that the first starships were nuclear powered
