Cruisers and Science ships don't stand a chance against it, and the cloak only makes it that much more powerful. I've seen too many people using this strategy:

Cloak---Get Close---Fire off buffs---Uncloak---Lay waste and defeat in under 3 seconds---recloak
This is typically 1 on 1.

Even when you have a group, the ship can easily outgun the enemy 3-to-1.
ESPECIALLY When equipped with the Borg set. It is just TOO powerful.

Cryptic, I implore you to do something about it.

Sincerely,

It's NOT way over powered. I fly an Intrepid and a Sovy and yet I'm able to take em out when one on one. One of my friends is VERY knowledgeable about the game and we'll leave it at that.

What strategies were you and your team using that wasn't working may I ask?

Science ships can detect cloaked ships, slow em down and take away SOME of their bite, while throwing it back at them. They can also throw a tractor and hold the bugga while you're friends clobber him.
Cruisers can heal AMAZING amounts of damage, but if you sit in their line of fire, good luck to ya.

The defiant/escorts are always gonna have better dps, up front, so stay behind him, if he goes too fast, utilize strategies to slow the little bugga down. There are SEVERAL to chose from.

The LAST thing this game needs is another nerf, rather than call for one, first tell us what you and your friends were doing that was ineffective. Maybe someone can help you develop a better strategy, so you can have a few surprises for your friend next time.

Only reason the defiant can tank is because the person in the ship made all his / her bridge officers have skills that heal keep you alive.

I see more survivability in all other Escorts i have used with the same skills i have though.

And in all cruisers i have used i survive very well against Defiant R's since i as most other supportive tanking cruisers put the skills where they are best used.

Oh please, stop there rediculous Nerf posts and learn how to fly a ship the proper way.

You think it needs a nerf? I think tacticals need a dmg buff. I'm a good escort flyer but sometimes i cannot even kill 'reasonable' cruiser. But im not complaining, yeh i can tank with my Escort but not because its OP, but because I'm a good captain.

Both Cruisers and Science ships can tank better then any escort i know.

But that really interests me, if you find a Defiant tanking real bad, what about a Fleet escort with an engineer?
I dont see the difference, but they can tank even better.

I agree, A friend of mine is one of those 3 second killers.. but with the appropriate BO setup he was not only beatable.. but his 3 seconds, became a long drawn out battle that he didn't want. Mind, in the end the Defiants maneuverability over my MVAM Prometheus gave him the win, but he had to earn it. They're beatable so don't whine about it. Just make yourself a better build, or better yet.. stay out of 1v1 matches since that seems to be your weak spot.

Step 1 - Set up a ship as "bait". Preferably this would be a Tank setup (LRSV Retrofit recommended; Deploy Armor upon attack), to survive the first barrage.

Step 2 - Tank and/or allied attacking ship locks a Tractor Beam (You know, that nifty BOff power that holds and disables cloak. If you can, use the Assimilated Tractor Beam from the Borg set to steal all their power) while the other ships batter your little Defiant down.

Step 3 - Once the Tractor Beam wears off (it's only got max 10 seconds), set up a trap of Charged Particle Bursts and Eject Warp Plasmas to re-disable cloak to finish the job.

Step 3 (Alternative) - Get an Advanced Research Science Vessel (Nebula) Refit and pop Tachyon Detection grid before he cloaks again, so as to have great stealth-sight and hit him while he's cloaked (because shields will be DOWN).

Step 4 - ???

Step 5 - Profit!

So yeah, just make sure you can survive long enough for your friends to beat it down. You do have friends, don't you?
Well what happens when your friends aren't there? Sit there and be Defiant chow? The problem is its nigh impossible to detect cloaked ships with the exception of:

1. The Tachyon Detection abilities of the Nebula and its Retro (Both are ugly, so I will sooner pilot a tin can)

2. You physically bump their invisible wall (which has a 1 in a million chance to happen on a gigantic PvP map)

The scenarios you describe are just too specialized, so the average Joe can't do anything. I fly an Assault cruiser and every time I get creamed on 1 shield face, no matter how many heals and buffs I pop, I can't do anything, and even the redirect shield strength ability isn't fast enough to match enemy DPS. On top of that, it buzzes around everywhere making it almost non targetable and then, when it has borg gear equipped, its practically impossible to get its shields and hull below 80%.

Yeah, your MVAM. The only ship that can actually stand a chance against it other than itself. Now it just sounds like "you have to spend a crap-load of cryptic points to be able to beat these people.

Of course your gonna protest if you fly it- you'd like to keep it OP so you can whoop people with ease. The fact of the matter is I don't see them explode enough. It's really infuriating, but I suppose maybe the mistake was mine when I went with a tactical officer at the beginning. It might just be they have crappy space powers.... I don't know.

That just might be the best reply I've read in this thread. Although, I may have failed to mention I'm a couple ranks below VA and the people I face are STO Veterans with Endgame setups... (aka AP weapons, Best shields, best Boffs, etc.)
