Organized PVP Tournament

July 16th, 1:15 pm EST

This month our team is taking over for the “TSI Funday” event and adding our own concepts to it while taking the best aspects of the previous tournament. We’ve named it Organized PVP Funday/Tournament as it’s really about everyone, not just us. We cant do the tournament alone. These set of rules are what our team believes will be most fun and competitive, and to encourage teams to bring what they wish to add diversity to the tournament. All teams in the previous tournament looked very similar (Feds: 1 Cruiser, 1-2 Sci and 1-2 Escorts, Klingons: Vorcha, 2 BoPs, Raptor), and it was a little stale. This one encourages unique team load outs with very few restrictions in order to make entry into the tournament easier and to, most importantly, allow teams to play how they want.

Here are the rules set in place:

-5v5
-Max 3 of each captain class
-No FAW (thus no Mines, Scorpion Fighters or Breen Torpedoes)
-No Scramble Sensors III
-No Harpeng Torpedoes UPDATE
-Max 2 KDF Carriers

8 teams (UPDATE: More will be added if the slots fill)
No cross faction teams
Double Knockout Tournament – You must lose two matches in order to be eliminated
40 Minute matches, first to 15 kills
5 Minute rest time in between matches
Team sign-ups begin immediately, though 5 player handles must only be named 1 week in advance (by July 9th). You may change them throughout that week however.

Tournament Bracket Layout:

Schedule:

1:15 pm EST – Gather at Drozana, where Team Captain will roll dice to determine their team number and who they play first round.
1:30 pm EST – Round 1
2:15 pm EST – Round 2
3:00 pm EST – Round 3
3:45 pm EST – Round 4
4:30 pm EST – Loser’s Finals
5:15 pm EST - FINALS

These are subject to change, but the idea of freedom is most important to us and we don’t want to restrict what people bring.

Just remember that the freedom of choice is a double edged sword. I would like to remind teams that while you may bring whatever you please, that you may go up against any possible combination of ships just like in a regular arena, so pick your setups wisely. You don’t want to run into a 3 cruiser team and not have the tools to take them down. You also don’t want to run into a 3 or 4 man intrepid team and not be able to take them out. Keep your team versatile, bring multiple bridge officers with multiple layouts in order to adapt. For example, I do not use Omega in my bird, but if I run into a grav well/tractor heavy team, I have a spare bridge officer with it just in case. It’s about adapting to the enemy.

Overall it should be fun. But it will be competitive at the same time.

Post below or send me a message to sign your team up. Give the name of your team leader. Signups begin now!

double knockout, or double elimination means you must loose twice before being eliminated from the tournament. Similar to what you were doing last time Mai Kai, where looser v looser and that winner moves on up the looser bracket. My impression is that both brackets are 1 game to 15 or 40 minute limit.
