Sort of, I've never played Wow or SWG, but it's not like you can 'dual' other captains with your doffs. There have been really nice screenshots of what the UI for the system looks like. I only liken it to a card game as it has some elements similar: ie all the Doffs have the same name, gender, race, specialty, etc.

I think the example used was an Lt. Bajoran Female Torpedo Specialist, name escapes me atm, but for the sake of argument her name is Jill. Now Jill is just 1 of 6000 possible Doffs, but every Jill is exactly the same.

You can send them on assignments and depending on the sector different assignments are available, kinda like Final Fantasy Tactics.

The assignments listed will sometimes require a certain types of Doff, commodities, or specialties to increase chances at success, critical success, failure or disaster. Injury or Death of Doff can result even with success.

The assignments could take an hour, week, maybe longer or shorter with rewards appropriate. More micromanagement yields more rewards as it's more hands on. Those rewards being xp, diplomatic xp, skill points, EC, Gold Press Latinum, commodities, doffs, Boffs, prisoners, more missions.

Is there any news on when the DOFF system will go live? Do we have a date yet? It sounds SO good. I can't wait to appoint my department heads and First Officer.

Well if there talking about it and posting it it has to be close to the testing and finishing stages.
I just hope they add the option to use your boff on some of the missions even if it means that you could possibly lose them it would be interesting challenge to a make do without them.

The Doffs, UI, and some missions are already on Tribble, but they're not turned on as they continue to polish it, and create new missions.

When it'll be turned on is the most popular question, it is 'very optimistic'to be 2-3 weeks, even when it does release on Tribble, it'll test for a month, as opposed to the test 'weekends' that we participate in before season releases.

Even when the Doff system hits Holodeck after the month or so of testing on Tribble, XO and Department Heads will not be ready when it launches (although I'm secretly hoping that they could surprise us with it being ready).

Remember, Heretic stated that they had all the Doffs (6000 iirc) already created and loaded onto Tribble. They and the missions aren't turned on, but they're there. Would become some messy thing to add Boffs to that 6k deep pool.

I haven't played the 'real' card game outside of my PSP game, but doffs are like the cards in Yu-gi-oh or Magic. Those with the same name, have the same look and ability (outside of color/art differences). That's why we can't customize the Doffs, nor can we change our Boffs into Doffs, simile would be to turn people into playing cards (sorry, best I could come up with on the spot).

if you are raising the cap for dxp will we get the xdp we have gained since hitting the cap?

and with craft skill if that goes up will we get the skill we have earned since hitting the cap?

Hey Heretic, with the Department heads you said in Priority Ones podcast that if they "eat" a DOff ability they will be ablt to manifist it. Of course these are passives but how will this improve/hinder current game play? With the First Officer, we will be given a new clickable space skill, will we see more in the way of PvP players ONLY having "this" XO as the skill is superior? I was thinking of how based on the Officer they could kinda counter act each other.

Say a Sci XO has the special ability fool sensors creating a photonic "you" that can get shot up and you take no damage. A tac XO using his/her special can counter this if used after and then also does something to improve weapons...Eng could counter this while Sci counters them.

This way if the Sci XO is the golden child someone could counter it with a Tac XO nulifying that skill. Kinda like how you have a counter for Viral Matrix or SNB.

This would also make it critical when it comes to the role you want your ship to fill as to who you will have as XO. Just a thought thanks for listening.

could some of the new skills be
1) faster to 'full power to engines' after a battle
2) faster battlecloak and enhanced battlecloak recloak
3) % defence
4) torpedo reload

I can't see them doing this (gaining dxp or crafting xp retrospectively) or else as soon as the systems are introduced people will be at cap.
