What if different ships granted different passive bonuses to some DOff assignments to reflect the ship specialty?

I sincerely hope it doesn't, ever. Why? Because I don't want to be reduced to flying cruisers only in order to be able to competently compete in pvp.

If we chose to go down this route, the interaction would not be a 1:1 benefit for exactly that reason; any such interactions would need to be more nuanced.

Ship choice should make a difference in some way, even if it is in different types of missions, I grant that the numbers might be hard a hard thing to do, with the people that switch ships at the drop of a hat, but I hope there will be some manner of difference in what a ship has available for doff missions that aren't away missions.

my problem with this is a already spend around 5 to 10 minutes sorting out my BOs and powers and loadout when i change ship, i dont want to have to sort my DOffs out too.

as for ship specific missions (well ship class specific) i'm on board for that, sounds like it could really increse immersion

Thank you so much for that. I mean, I own all the ships on fed and kdf side. Why? I like choice. I would never want to feel forced to use just one type of ship due to a new feature making them overpowered.

Hi all. Ty Heretic and everyone else for all the info. I for one can not wait for this all to play out. With all of you helping me figure it out; I know that I CAN DO IT [(to quote/paraphase Yoda - "...there is no try, only do..." - I know he is not on StarTrek (lol)]. Good luck all with it, and I for one am definitely going to do it on Tribble 1st (whenever it gets there).......

I really would love to see ship selection have some bearing on missions though. Most escorts will not be suited for a colony evacuation mission. Most cruisers will make poor stealth vessels. There are dozens of ways to differentiate, but this is not the place to do so.

It sounds like you guys are on the right track with the DOff system and the different paths within. As you progress, there are more options available and related to your progression. Maybe some day Heretic will get to work on ship classes.

*cough*LTCdr Tac slot on a fed science vessel*cough*......Actually, I'd love ship class specific missions as long as they are evenly distributed.

Actually I don't think that ship class should have any affect on Duty Officer Assignments. It seems to me that you as the Captain give a mission to a few of your Duty Officers to go to some planet or area of space to do some mission and you pick up your duty officers after they have finished the mission. Assuming that Assignments work like this, then the only ships that could affect duty officer assignments are shuttles.

Having a Commendation specific shuttle as a reward could be a good reward for getting a certain rank in a commendation. Espionage could get a shuttle with a cloak. Medicine could get a med shuttle. Diplomacy could get a shuttle for entertaining dignitaries. Another shuttle we can fly around in and using it for its commendation category would give a slightly better chance of succeeding. Of course, when the duty officers are using the shuttle, then you can't use it till it gets back.
