# 1 Upcoming Foundary Series
06-12-2011, 03:01 PM
Greetings guys, I'm currently writing up scripts for a new series available on the foundary. While it would consist centered on the player's ship, it would actually indeed follow a primary mission, which is the exploration of the nearer sectors of the Delta Quadrant.

You the captain will play through many missions through seasons that would be released over the course of the next month. The first series has been planned as Season 1 and contains 20 episodes, which include the appearance of new races, old races and interesting arks including, power struggles, tailing enemies, ship drama and anomalies that wreak havoc with the ship and interesting discoveries.

There is one catch that has mandatory to the series, it the series name. Considering the centerpiece ship will be the player's actual ship, the series name has not been decided and we wouldn't want to develop the series based upon one type of ship, and pre-determined name.

Below is the list of chosen Episodes that will run through Season One of the Series and hopefully it would interest you as it takes us back to many aspects of Gene Roddenberry's dream and the continuation of the TNG, DS9 and VOY series, which we will revisit in the series.

That's a problem I haven't came to yet xD but a work around on this should be okay to deal with as additional accounts can be created. It is not illegal to create multiple accounts on Star Trek Online. So that is a possible fix. Just remeber these episodes need tested before they are distributed.

There are indeed two ways we can tackle this.

- Each Mission will consist of two or three episodes. As far as seen there is no limit to how long a mission can extend.
- Multiple accounts can be created solely for these series if they pro-logue episodes proven to be an interest. Pay special interest to the episodes of S01E12 - Future in a Bottle and S01E19 - Before Omnipotence.

What can be done is that the first 'Mission' on the first Dialogue, would have multiple options, each starting a new Episode. A text explanation below;

[ST:TBD S01E01-05]

Episode Information

[Play S01E01 - Hopeful Dreams{Part1}]
[Play S01E02 - Thickness of Blood{Part}]
[Play S01E03 - The Depths of the Void]
[Play S01E04 Premature Nova]
[Play S01E05 Virus]

And another Option of the next five episodes in a similar fasion as above as a seperate Mission altogether. Releasing the episodes this way could potientally allow all players to play each episode as a few over the time it takes to create the release version of the next batch. Only problem exists which we would tackle like any other Episode in the TV series is space in the mission limits. Which we would possibly remove segments of the episodes to make room for each episode.

Theres another hopeful option that Cryptic would open a service that would allow foundary users to purchase additional mission slots.

Having one mission consist of multiple episodes, one after another, sounds like a good idea on paper. There are a few problems you'll have to consider, though.

1) Would you be able to fit three seperate stories into the single mission, making each as interesting as the last?

2) How would players feel about being exposed to so many different plot elements?

3) In a single mission, would your individual stories be able to cater to the object/map/actor limit?

If and when you make the stories, however, I'd be more than happy to play them. Each of the plots that you have outlined look as though they could be very interesting. However, I would recommed that you get a few people on board that are willing to help you to create these missions. Take, for example, Ashka_Neris and the Watcher War series - he is spreading its development across him and a partner.

Thank you for your feedback Zadama. As for your points.

1) Three stories could be fit, especially on two parters which could easily be implimeted as one episode, but over a much longer period.

2) I feel it would hit the core fan base that play this game where they don't have to play on episodes that are back to back on a +10 parter story (Xindi). In this case we have stretched the elements of continueing arcs such as the episodes that imply the novas and the Romulans etc over multiple episodes. Also The Scourge and Nest episodes are related. Future in a bottle may have a relating episode in a later season.

3) The player won't remain on the same map forever and we'll try to utilize as much as we can on each map to allow every piece of information and as much story as we can on each map. We won't say you will have 100 objectives on each map. We'll just stretch what we can into each segment of the mission and deal with the foundary's limits as we meet head on.

All the episodes won't be released in a bulk but once over time.

one thing thats going to break this idea is that you are only allowed 10 maps in any given created mission.....

We'll just have to compremize on this problem. But judging how the missions will work, I don't think we'll be using more than 2-4 maps per Mission so it should work. Missions like Future in a bottle would require a maximum of three maps.

For the first segment of discovering the anomally, could begin in the science lab, and com to the bridge will have it transported etc, and the next segment would result in the next part but remain on the same map then will result (SPOILER) into space and onto another map needed for this mission.

Two Parter episodes will offcourse be special features and can use the full length of 10 maps.

- S01E03 - The Depths of the Void [3 Maps]
- S01E04 - Premature Nova [3 Maps]
- S01E05 - Virus [4 Maps]

[Mission Three]
- S01E06 - The Scourge [3 Maps]
- S01E07 - Traders [3 Maps]
- S01E08 - Scavengers [4 Maps]

I was thinking something that implies you are an explorer, pushing the frontier of Federation space. Whilst Voyager cut through the Delta Quadrant, its primary mission was to get home, whilst by the sound of your series, your primary mission is to explore the unknown.

The names I came up with the implied the above were:

New Frontiers

Trailblazer

Alternatively, you could label the series based on the name of the actual codename or operation to send a ship deep into the Delta Quadrant to explore:

The Delta Operation

Operation: Delta Odyssey
